DIY Mane & Tail conditioner?

Does anyone out there make their own Mane & Tail conditioner/detangler - Penny had a gorgeous long mane 'traditional cob' style and I need to look after it this winter but I am thinking of cheaper ways to keep it looking fab! I am sure that you must be able to make it with 'natural' ingedients!

If anyone makes coat shine too, I suppose that would work on the mane and tail too?

I did well with my homemade fly repellant I hope I get some ideas for this!

I make my own. 1/4 cup hair conditioner, 1/2 cup baby oil and 1 cup water. I keep it in a spray bottle. You can play around with the amounts as I have lost the actual recipe and tend to just do with the bit of this and bit of that method. Sometimes I add a few drops of lemon, peppermint or eucalytus oil to make it a bit more fly repellant.

Thanks Ispa!

I was hoping someone would have a recipe!

I take it that you can use any type of hair conditioner that you can buy in the shops, not just horsey stuff?

I will give it a go - fingers crossed!
THANKS

Yep I just use a cheap conditioner that I know is reasonable quality.
The bought ones have got so expensive- it's strange what we are prepared to spend on our horses but would never buy expensive shampoos etc for ourselves.

I have always used 'baby oil' ive tryed lods of stuff, expensive stuff, human conditioner, but nothing has ever been as good as baby oil.

I oil her tail about 3 times a week, and i can comb through it everyday.

I would recommend this everytime.
