barnstormers.co.uk & Shires saddlehuggers Jod's

Have any of you bought anything from Barnstormers.co.uk - I am looking for a new pair of Jod's and really like th look of the Shires two tone saddlehuggers jod's for everyday use and they seem to be the cheapest @ £26.55.

What are your experiences with barnstormers and do any of you have the jod's? are they good quality?

I've never bought from Barnstormers but I have millions of saddle hugger jods and I love them. Their all I buy now. Their great value for money, a brilliant fit and so comfy!! And they wash and wear really well. There cheap and tuff enough that I can wear them around the yard but look good enough that I wear them to show in to! I bought a pair of "posh" jods about a month ago, my first pair that were not saddle huggers and I paid £75 and have worn them once and will probably not wear them again! There so uncomfortable and just dont fit right. I would definetley recommend saddler huggers though!

Thanks I think I might indulge myself - I have seen a woman at a froends yard in a pair but her's seem very red and the web site describes them as cerise and black not red and black.

Might opt for the purple and black pair - so many decisions

But will definatley invest thanks

I have the purple and black ones - love them!

I have bought stuff from Barnstomers and they have always been very good with me, if there is something not in stock - they give you a call straight away and let you know - very good service

The jods are cotton though, so I found that they started to wear thin at the seams, but they lasted a year!

I have bought from barnstormers and they were fine. Their aftersales service was good as the delivery idiot (Parcel Farce) left the order in my neighbours open garage (thinking it was mine) on the last day before he went away for 3 months. Barnstormers sent me a replacement and a PF freepost label to return the 1st lot when he returned.

I have used Barnstormers loads of times, they are pretty good normally although last time I placed an order I never got anything. They took my order over the phone but never put it through. The only bad thing about the jods is that they havent got the same kind of stretch as other jods as they are made from more cotton, they can go a bit saggy after youve had them on a while and the bottoms (the ankles) are really big. Nice and comfortable though. I have the black and grey saddlehuggers and the navy/cambridge two tones. I was going to order the red checked jods but I have since discovered Gorringe checked jods which are a better fit. Happy Shopping!

Thanks for all you advice on Barnstomers, I've also found another web store www.cleesaddlery.co.uk, they do free delivery on all orders over £20.00, the jodphurs themsleves are more expensive than barnstormers but once you add the delivery on they work out more expensive - anyone used clee saddlery???

All my experiences of 357am are from the other side - getting up at that time to go somewhere.

Free delivery on orders over £20?! Thats brilliant! I dont think ive ever placed an order under £50 when its horse related. I will have a look later, see if they have any jazzy jods to add to my collection

katie - they only take orers over £20.00, delivery should take 5 working days, just waiting on a reply with regard to sizes not sure which size woudl be best for me - not good when they say inches rather than UK sizes

But will let you know how I get on and how good there service is

Bertie, just re read your post about the woman with bright red jods - Barnstomers sell the cerise and black or the rose and black, (amongst others) both of which are definitley pink (my friend has the cerise/black ones and theyre lovely) but you can actually get red and black ones so theyre probably the ones you saw on the woman (i like those ones!) You can get them in even more colours than barnstormers sell if you buy directly from Shires.

katie - I've been on the shires web site and they work out nerly £36.00 including delivery which is more than I wanted to pay for them considering the covered in mud and horse S**t as my lovely boyf describes it when I come in from the farm

Barnstomers are best really as they offer 10% off, if you want a colour they havent got, they would probably order in for you. Ive seen the purple ones btw and theyre really nice, go for them

On the shires web they are called cerise??

They look red to me or they could be the rust ones. My friend has the cerise ones and they are definitley the same colour as the ones in the big picture. Which colour is it you want?
Mind you, the second pic on second row are called Rose/cerise - the cerise being the inner colour, which is quite similar to the first pic second row.

this is where my problem starts each website calls the colours slightly different

And they call the "red" ones Cerise/Black

They look nothing like the colours they are meant to! The 'blue/black' ones are purple!! If you want a normal mid pink, order the cerise ones, if you want baby pink order the rose ones. Ive seen a few different colours of these jods and I would say that barnstormers are a lot more accurate with the colours than shires (for some strange reason!)

Barnstormers can get everything from Shires if you ask them, it may not been on the website, or in their catalogue, but they have gotten things for me in the past after I asked, and all at their cheaper price!

May be another thought - but there are always the shires jods on ebay - even cheaper sometimes from there?
