A pic of our first drive
Hi I thought you might like to see a pic of our first (and only, so far) drive, a few weeks ago.
This is Eriskay my Highland. She has lost a good bit of weight since this pic was taken, I'm pleased to say.
I hope we can make some more progress soon!

She's beautiful. She looks pretty cheerful pulling the cart, too. How much did you do with her before you actually hooked her up?

Galadriel - from what I understand Eriskay was an experienced driving pony before Gill bought her

Pony has the "What's all the fuss about" look on her face.
Very chilled looking turnout.
Do have have an Eriskay called Highland too?

Thanks folks!
Ha Wally, her name is really spelt in Gaelic and merely pronounced as 'Eriskay' but yes it sounds confusing.
Erry has not been driven for a few years, it is my problem that I need to acquire the skills. She is a lovely girl, quite laid back.
We had a problem last year which resulted in the dreaded L so have been knocked back somewhat. Fingers crossed things are OK.
I have done a fair bit of long reining with her, mainly to start exercising her again, before being brave and 'putting to'. She is being ridden again now as well.

Lovely pony, looks a really bombproof girl happy in her work.
can I just make one suggestion? if you straighten your legs with a slight bend in the knee and put your weight into your feet - bracing yourself basically, against the sloped bit on the dashboard/or footrest, and sit up straight - back against the seat back with your reins held just away from your midriff, you'll feel much more secure.
isn't it fun tho' ? Cheers L
