I don't want to be lunged today thanks Mum!

That was the message I got from Penny today, no horse whisperer needed!

It must be nearly 2 months since we were last lunged, and I just tried her with her headcollar on, so she got the measure of me soon enough!

Silver (the 36ish year old pony) wanted to join in too, so I had her trotting and cantering round like a foal to contend with too!

Right rein, great, bit heavy in canter, but she was listening!

Left rein, appauling, not listening, so I MADE her canter, she soon learnt that if she was heavy enough she could have me dragged around the field, and then mum has to let go of the rope...and off I trot to eat grass at the other side of the field! Result!...Ooops, hang on, mum's coming, quick move off....

Mum managed to put her foot on the lunge rope, quick grash into the hand and then yank...'You ain't going anywhere girlie'....Back to the start....off we go again.....

Hang on....if I get heavier and faster...i can get away from mum...one...two..three...there I go, off to the other side of the field again, yum, yum, grass tastes good! Ooops, hang on, mum's coming, quick move off....

Mum managed to put her foot on the lunge rope (AGAIN), quick grash into the hand and then yank...'You certainly ain't going anywhere this time girlie'....Back to the start....off we go again..... Cos I wasn't going to end the session so that she had learnt how to stop working!

Hurrah....walk....trot...walk....stand....walk...trot....walk......hurrah, she is listening to me.....

Feet firm, and good grip of lunge rope...foward canter...hurrah, left leg lead AND no pulling! Hurrah...trot Penny! Leyt's just try again to make sure that wasn't a fluke....Hurrah! We did it!

END of school, Mum was happy again, and Penny didn't get the upper hand! I certainly DIDN'T need the horse whisperer today to understand my girl!
