just a pic of...

...Chiz--my regular RS cutie! the pic was taken in on Monday morning after a wonderful lesson, and during the last of lovely weather (light snow, sunny and temperatures hovering around freezing), in the afternoon temperatures had plunged down to -15 deg C and didn't stop there! (Today is a whopping -30 degrees! Looks like no riding for the rest of the week )

Had a great lesson, cantered without stirrups for the first time! (yippeee!!!) Chiz had been such a good boy... got a big sugar cube for that!

edit
oops, had meant to post this in cafe! mods can you move it? thx! (sorry! )

Well I didn't dare to go outside at all last week and was glad I didn't Actually that was the second lesson. I fell off another (real nappy) horse when attempting to canter without stirrups.

Wow -30 that is the temp where I may not have to plug my car in so it will start in the morning. We have something here in Maintoba,Canada where I live called wind chill. Minus 30 is fine with no wind but it can get as cold as -40 with the wind chill your eyelids freeze open. Or you freeze where you stand if you don't keep moving. ok its not quite that bad.

Great pic of your horse. Love the snow.....it cusions the fall!

Ahhh, Moscow winter sounds like a Canadian winter (well not counting the folks in Victoria BC).
Is it damp in Moscow? In my area (Eastern Ontario, Canada) it's usually damp and the wind chills are not pleasant. Last year at this time -30c was the high & without the windchill.
So, Nottingham sounds cozy to me

We don't ride when there's a total temp. of -20c (meaning: temp. + wind chill + humidity = Total temp)

PS: nice horse

It can get quite windy in Moscow, by midweek total temp was probably effectively -38 C. It is dry though. However up northwest in St. Petersburg, it's a very wet cold with humidity around 90%. I think Canadian winter is often harsher than Moscow winter, probably like Siberian winter.

Like yourself, here it depends in which part of Canada you live.
In Manitoba, where ponytails live (if I'm correct) their winter is colder temperature wise but it's dryer.

I don't even want to think of -38c right now (shudder). We're finally having descent temps right now & no high humidity (at last!).
I may finally get to work with the horses this week!
Between terrible weather (I don't have an arena ) and working on our house/property my mares have been leading the cushy lives of lawn ornaments all year.
