back to the drawing board

i bought a green hacking jacket, and got it today, and im not impressed.
didnt really like the colour, and when i tried it on with my show stuff it looked ok, but the brown/grey jacket i already had looked better!
the old jacket that doesnt fit me still looks the best by far.
so back to the drawing board me thinks

Definately, if you're going to spend money on it you might as well do it properly and get things that go well

10p listing day on ebay too..

I feel that the colour of the hacking jacket depends on the colouring of the horse myself. My daughter has a dapple grey and green looks insipid on her, so chose a bluey grey colour - much more in keeping with pony. Also the person wearing jackets colouring as well. I do not do green at all even in everyday colours does not suit me - but browns do so I have a brown hacking jacket.
Stop going for 'tradition' and do what suits you and your horses colouring. That is unless the type of class and what level the class is I suppose. But then we only do local level only.
Return you jacket and get your money back and then go looking for something like your old one, but that fits!!! Good luck

i chose green as i have 4 horses, a grey, a bay and 2 chestnuts, i will hopefully be using it on my darker chestnut more, ive been told that either brown or green would go well with her colouring.
i can get away with most colours, im blonde with very pale skin, the green jacket looks ok on me colour wise, but im going for the over all effect.
i have an odd figure aswell, i have very broad shoulders, hardly any chest, small high set waist and decent hips.
i have a 38 jacket (my brown/grey one) which fits my shoulers but is big everywhere else, the new green one which is a 36, fits my shoulder fine but is still a bit big on me everywhere else, and i have a very old yellow/brown one that was given to me by my mums friend, her daughters have been to hoys and all sorts in it when they were younger (hoping it would give me luck!) but thats a 32 and much to small on me, but the colour really goes well with horse and the rest of my stuff, it also is a maids so sits into my waist and looks really elegant on me (can do the bottom button up around my waist but not the others). i havent been able to find another jacket that is anywhere near that colour, and if i could id snap it up (if it was my size of course, but im starting to wonder what size that is!)
im starting to look at 36 maids, but they are hard to find and cost a small fortune!
i really like the window pane pattern jackets, but my mum assures me they will make me look fat! i usually look like a blob on a horse anyway because of my funny figure, i would really like to look elegant but it seems it isnt going to happen.

Would it be worth taking the jacket you like to a good taylor to see if they may be able to discreatly adjust it so it fits you? or perhaps one of the ones that are to big to give you a really flattering fit but with the not so nice color (once the fit is good you may like it more)?
