Hi
I used to pay £15 for a half hour private lesson but now get two a month for £18 at hte same place. I also went to another school which cost £10 for a 40 minute group lesson with about 10 in but soon left as I found the other girls in my lesson really nasty and the horses would also try to kick you and bite me and the horse in front making it buck (probably my fault for getting to near). But I would just like to say shop around because the most expensive are not always the best.

The nearest place to me would set me back £50 (if I didn't want to be a member), or £35 (members) for group lessons, which I believe are 45 mins.

If I just wanted a plod round the countryside, then it's cost £15 (think that's how much it was about 6 months ago).

I travel down to dad's to ride our house - It costs me £21 in rail fares and I get to ride a well schooled, safe horse for as long as I want!!!

I pay £24.50 for a 1/2 hour private lesson each for me and my daughter(new member Enya788 NR) and £1 if Enya needs to hire a hat when we have our lessons at the same time. That's for weekday evenings; I thought it was very expensive but compared to driving lessons it evens out I suppose. However, in my humble opinion many car drivers could do with continuing to perfect their skills on a regular basis after passing their driving 'test'... sorry, grumpy, had a B*** awful drive home in rush hour tonight

I pay £10 for a 3/4 hour private lesson on my own horse. Thats cheap enough for me.

Ive actually learn more in three lessons than I have in all my more expensive lessons.

Wow, this thread is from more than 3 years ago! Thought I'd update my post and let you all know how expensive it is to ride here now, since it has increased by quite a bit. It's now.....

1 hour private lesson - $90 AUD compared to $75 three years ago
1/2 hour private lesson - $60 AUD
1 hour group lesson - $70 AUD compared t o $55 three years ago.

Hmmm... Prices are all over the map, literally!

I pay $30 per half hour lesson here in North Carolina, but it usually runs over and I end up spending about an hour at the stable before I leave. I clean the bit, make sure the horse is groomed up somewhat, and the tack is put away. 1 hour group lessons are only $5 more...

£35 for a private lesson (members rate) during the week during the school term and thats for 45mins.

privates at weekends and evenings plus school hols go up to £50 as thats the peak time.

group lessons are £18 whatever time of day you ride. Hence why i'm riding on average about once every 8 weeks at the mo or ride with a friend to split the cost

Thought I'd just give my 2 cents since I haven't seen any Southern California posts -

I ride at the LA Equestrian center here in Burbank, and the prices are:

50 Minute Group lesson: $50
45 Minute Semi-Private: $65
30 Minute Private Lesson: $65

If you buy them in "packages" they get cheaper:

For 5 lessons:
Group: $225
Private: $300

I try and ride twice a week, but since I moved up in levels the class times are different so I can only get there once a week.

Yep, California is expensive....

Wow...so expensive....in my country it's rather cheap then...
To one instructor i pay 4 pounds per hour (sometimes in group, sometimes alone) , but if I ride 3 times a week, I pay 30 pounds per month. In the other stable I pay 30 poundes per 2 times a week in month...

Prices vary even in a tiny area!

I've lookes at three ridig schools within a ten mile radius. One's £20 an hour private, one's £30 an hour private, and one's given up diong privates, cause they make more money on groups!

After my birthday present (at the expensive place, lol) i'll be paying £17 an hour for a group lesson, unless i can find a way to get to another stables, which is cheaper, but has better faciltites!
