I'm a jumper me!

Ok well mini x poles but heh!
Have been trying to get my nerve up to start jumping again for ages. Have been spurred into action by the fact that I am going to an adults fun show in just under 2 weeks and there is a mini x poles class that I am psyching myself to enter and if I tell you lot about it I will have to do it!
So jumped Moodle (sons 13h ploddy) just tiny jumps but did a course of 3 with a firm grip on the mane
then flushed with success (ie I hadnt fallen off ) took my loopy Chance round same jumps and SURVIVED!
Bit of a difference in styles, moodle needs pushing on really hard or grinds to a halt or cat leaps over. Chance is incredibly enthusiastic and I just have to try and keep her calm and hold tight and hope for the best!
Just have to decide who I am brave enough to take now!

Jumping is the best thing in the whole world. On the other hand, it helps if you have a pony who loves it too, and knows what he's doing

From your descriptions, I rather think I would hesitate to choose either of them, but on balance, I would say go for the enthusiastic one - you can always (well mostly, or at least sometimes) rein him back a bit - as one of the best old sayings has it - "When in doubt, leave one stride out!" - it sure as hell works for me, if I ignore it then it gets clumsy; so I would (if I had to) plump for the forward-going one.

good luck (what's your nearest hospital? - just for the flowers y'know!!!! )

Daughter only gives me a "medium chance of survival" if I take Chance, so still deciding!

horses and ponies tend to be a bit more forward going at shows, so i'd probably take the more ploddy one.

For example, Taz just loves to refuse at home when he's too lazy to jump. At a show, he jumps them first time around... knock on wood!

SupaTania makes a very good point - do you know how either of them respond to shows? And is this a "yard" do, or somewhere else far away, because obviously travelling can make a huge difference . . . ooh, I don't envy you

I suppose, at the end of the day - go with your first instinct, whatever that was - research has proven that it is usually more accurate than reasoned decisions.
(All I need to do now is remember that when picking my horse for the 3:40 at Cheltenham! )

Do tell us how it goes . . .
