How much is livery in Solihull?

This may sound like a really random question, especially when I've only just moved to Surrey, but I was talking to my OH last night and we both have very stressful jobs that take up an awful lot of time so we were chatting about the potential in a few years time to move somewhere were we could have a slower pace job and a better quality of life. He is from Solihull originally and I really like it there so I was wondering how much livery is in that area? In this case we would take quite a drop in salary but would hopefully have a good deposit to put down on a house to make the mortgage cheap but it really would depend on how much we would have to pay for the horses.

All I know is house prices are horrendous in that area and full livery at Swallowfields is £120 + vat per week! But I'm sure there must be some cheaper yards around

Solihull probably isn't quite as it was few years ago, OH is from there! I feel the city is coming out to meet it, just doesn't feel quite the same.

OH's brother 's girlfriend keeps her horse out towards Henly in Arden/Alcester, not sure how much they pay.

If you do decide to move back up north, keep an open mind and look around, North Birmingham tends to be a bit more reasonable.

Good luck in whatever you decide to do!

I grew up in Knowle just outside of Solihull (where solihull riding club is). Round that area is lovely (great schools if that's a consideration!) and quite a few little private yards and fields to rent. There are a few small livery yards around earlswood area, a friend of mine pays around £60/ week part livery (inc. hay, straw, basic feed and 5 days mucking out etc) and I think that is pretty standard for the area.

Yeah Swallowfield is seriously top of the range, I did work exp there yonks ago and actually found the yard pretty nice, worth the money if that's the sort of thing your looking for.

There are other horsey areas out towards Meriden, although I'm affraid I cant help with specific names of places.

I guess you would probably find livery in Solihull cheaper than in Surrey, but it is still a pretty pricey area!
