Nice, Joosie, and just shows that you don't need specialist saddles unless you're at the top end of a discipline.

actually yes, my black country wexford is a jumping saddle really, although not as forward as others and i can get a good FW position in it. I did find it hard to find a GP type though that helped rather than hindered, the other i found good was a gfs pro event. Its often easier though to pick up a 2nd hand synthetic dressage, just depends i suppose
I agree, but for me its been a lot easier to find a dressage saddle that suits my horse and I than it has been to find a gp/jump saddle (which for me is actually atm a more forward cut GP). I am no great shakes as a rider, have a few too many pounds, am no teenager anymore and some slightly broken bits so will take all the help I can get!
The better I am the better my horse can be and the healthier and happier he hopefully is.As an example this saddle I would never be able to sit correctly in simply because of how long my thigh bones are. Was very comfy though as thats at the start of a 10 mile ride!
Where as in a dressage saddle its just much easier to find one that I dont have to fight the saddle for a good position...just everything else.
And yes HH, will be there with the coloured chap above doing one of the prelims!
@HaloHoney I was thinking about that image you posted up about your legs forwards.
I 'schooled' today after popping up the one hole in the other thread. I tried to see what I looked like in a window, easier said than done if your horse is trying to look in a well
I looked fine to my eye and felt fine. My trot felt better.
Then I couldn't resist the jump that was in the school. All ok but when I rechecked my position it was then like your lower leg. I can either put my lower like that or correct it. But, I would need to move my block back which I don't wish to because I pop a pole sometimes and hack up and down hills all the time. Jumping in a total classical position will just topple me onto my fork and my leg will ping backwards?

I've just belatedly caught up with this thread. Did the measuring thing and my thighs are 6 cm longer than the bottom half. Maybe that explains some of my problems! I've been fantasising that a dressage saddle might help.... maybe not of course as others have said but I'm definitely going to ask my RI what she thinks.
I’m skint until April, so we’ve got to work with what we’ve got right now, and then we’re going out for the day to find the saddle fitter that @Tir recommended.
This whole saddle fitting thing is made a billion times more awkward by the saddle fitter a) being from the saddlery at my yard and b) living on site - one of her upstairs windows looks out over the outdoor school for goodness sake- so if I want a second opinion I’m going to have to go out for the day to get it. So I’m going to hire a box for a day, go out, get this saddle fitted and take her recommendation for a possible dressage saddle.

I thought you were moving yard HaloHoney, or did I imagine that? If you are then I'd make getting a saddle fitter out high on your list of priorities when you move, at least that way there's no awkwardness about who you use. Personally I'd still get someone else out & stuff the on site saddler, I suspect she sold you a saddle that doesn't fit & in that case I wouldn't feel I owed her any loyalty.
