2018 Hacking/Riding challenge........ Add your photos and join in open to anyone.

An excellent long weekend for me.
Saturday was a nice solo hack including my first short canter of the year (finally found a short stretch that was good enough!). It was a nice day so I turned Harvey out without a rug so he could play at mud monsters. On Sunday E, L and I had a pleasant hack round in the rain, and after that I took Harvey in the school, but he was objecting to leaving his friends behind so I gave up pretty quickly.

On Sunday day evening we all (me and my partner, and E and L) drove up to Field Farm Equestian at Skegness for a couple of days of fun. They have horses for hire that you can take out without a guide. I was allocated Arthur who was a 15hhish cob.
On Monday we had to tack up and have our riding assessed, and then we were off. A mile long green lane leads to a fantastic, empty beach :) :) We had a lot of fun including several glorious canters - the horses are very fit and responsive and definitely not your usual trekking horses. On Tuesday we were forced to ride on the beach again!

On a bridleway at last!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!:):););):D:D
Love it!!!

OH yes I bet it was a really ARM TWIST to ride on the beach again.:p:p:p.

Goddard park has beach to ride on but its much narrower and not that long. I've only ridden once on a beach like yours was out on Cape Cod.

How awesome to be able to go and rent horses at a place like that!!!;);););)

Sonny unmounted 46.75 hrs
mounted 6.00 hrs

Andi unmounted 3.50 hrs

Sonny is settling in there had been some calling between him and Andi. She used to scream if I rode the neighborhood at the old house.
I Played a bit in his paddock round pen to try it out.
I started to put the wood chips around the inside perimeter but its got a slight slope and its got a bit of sandy aspect so the footing should stay good even when we get extended wet.

It worked out good to use for play. He did get a bit silly MOM I can use the Wood chips as an obstacle!!!

I got about 2/3 done with chips yesterday. When we get Andi set up She will have a wood chip inside perimeter too.

Now that Sonny is there and my husband is working on
Andi's stall they are hanging more in that night area.

Andi's area is coming along Tuesday we bought the fencing for
her paddock and laneway.

Her set up will be similar to Sonny.

I cant wait for them both to be here.

Sonny unmounted 47.25 hrs
mounted 6.00 hrs

Andi unmounted 3.50 hrs

Did a bit further on the inside edge of Sonny's rd pen.
I'm working from the edge of the pile toward the fence to
open it up a bit more.
Hopefully I will have enough to do the same with Andi's pen

LOL Narrow space NO PROBLEM.

When I played I got the space between the pile opened up a bit more but its not very wide.
I guess sonny thought it was fine my funny boy.

IMG_1560.JPG

I was pleasantly surprised he just went for it.

We picked up half of the fence panels for Andi's area and the balance of wood needed.
Hopefully it will be done soon.
I am sooooooooo glad when I got my new trailer a couple years ago we kept that little Valley. Its been worth its weight in gold for getting fence moving and all sorts of uses.

LOL now if that pile was in Andi's area I am sure she would have spread it all about the first NITE.

Sonny unmounted 47.75 hrs
mounted 6.00 hrs

Andi unmounted 3.50 hrs

Its horribly nasty windy and cold out but at least its dry for now,
freezing rain due later.
WE got Andi's rd pen set up last nite.
I tried it out playing With Sonny today
It will work out good.
Its a bit more sloped but I can switch off and
He was funny boy and good boy lol.

We have xtra panels to set up a common area too yea

In time the common area will get bigger but we have to start someplace

I hope weather holds out to get more outside stuff done.

Went out for a lovely sunny hack with another livery and her rather exuberant horse today! The ground is just about starting to show signs of drying out, but we still stuck to walk and trot as her horse can get carried away. My poor friend has lost her confidence in her horse, I'm not sure what to suggest, I'm not the most confident rider myself but have a horse with a very calm temperament so he's much more of a confidence giver. Saw lots of other riders out today as there was a pole clinic at our yard so quite a few hacked over. There was a group of three who for some reason got our two a little wound up, they seemed to want to catch them!

Total today was 7.11km in 1hr30mins.

Totals 57.93km in 13hrs10mins plus 180 minutes schooling

Got back on board Melody today for a 30 min plod round the school ages since I was last on board...... hoping to ride most days now and build us both up again..... so I am back :) on the riding and hacking thread...I also have a lady part sharing Melody with me 3 day a week to help keep Melody’s weight down.

I had planned to school on Saturday, but it was such a nice day I decided to hack instead and we had a reasonably relaxed hack around the roads. On Sunday out first schooling session for many months. I didn't do to much mostly walk and trot, and then to finish we popped over a couple of (very) small jumps

Harvey and I trying to look enthusiastic about schooling ;)

I love that app!!!!:D:D:D:D

I'm hoping to play today I wanted to yesterday but it started really stressful at 430 am:eek::eek::eek:
I watch 430am news kind of half asleep. Actually more listening than watching then hear
farm quarrentine - that got my attention look up see the sign OMG its the organic farm petting zoo and goat yoga place
we stopped at when whe had to go to a wake near there the satufday before:(:(:(:(:(:eek::eek::eek:
NOW IM WIDE AWAKE AND PETRIFIED!!!

It was the longest couple minutes for them to get to THAT STORY on the news
I guess some people/kids came down with cryptosporosis so NOW IM trying to look THAT UP WHAT THE HECK IS
IT!!

I felt ok past being sore this last week doing more wheelbarrel stuff etc.
but I'm still worried!!! My husband felt fine too.

Thankfully I NEVER PET OR TOUCH strange animals at any place fairs etc etc and tell my husband not to either.
I did pay and go into the cuddle area with the teeny babies but did not actually pick up or touch any.
My husband was outside talking to a couple of the owners.
I took a lot of photos and there were a lot of people in there cudding babies and lots of children.
Some people were even sitting on the barn floor as were a lot of children.
The place was nice and clean.
One thing I did notice that at first caught me odd but then dismissed it to being sleepy time was that
most baby goats seem to act like the spring has broken and they bounce around.
Every single baby goat was very quiet. No one was bouncing.

I was worried about my kids here it felt like forever before the vet opened and I had the Farrier coming really early as well.
The vet said I should have no worries ( ok but I still worry )

Ed came he did Andi over At
Virginias the pony is next to her now and she was a total brat but she may have picked up that I was totally wired.
Sonny on the other hand Ed even commented He is the old Sonny again being over here.
Sometimes he was a bit antsy for him over there.

Then I did the great American goat butt watch:rolleyes::rolleyes::confused::confused: TRYING TO get samples to take for fecals.
I took fecals to the goat vet and then fecals to the Horse vet for the horses.

I got a tour of their new facility Its really nice state of the art Like a small version of TUFTS but only 10 miles away.
Quite nice but the kind of place you hope you NEVER have to go to.

I ended up not playing with it just being an overall stressful day.
Today is a new day:)

Its great all the outside fencing got done over the weekend even the common area and Her stall
is getting closer to being done:):););):D:D

Family farms here struggle to keep going so I REALLY hope that the problem there does not damage them
irreparably. I have not heard any more on the news but it said the quarantine could be about a week.

Sonny unmounted 48.75 hrs
mounted 6.00 hrs

Andi unmounted 3.50 hrs

Played in cavaletti pen yesterday.
Ugh WHERE IS SPRING its still so COLD.
Nasty wind did not help either. But it was dry at least.
Its cold rain again today and NOT FAR north of here
will be snow showers and SNOW .
*********************STAY AWAY SNOW*****************

After play I let him try out the common area and then Andi's
area with some hay.
He gave me a look then looked lol towards his area.
HEY MOM I like MY area.

Its raining again today and will be lucky to hit 40f
The stall is getting close to being finished I CANT WAIT.
