What boots do you use for travelling?

The reason I ask is that when I was picking sox up from the vets recently they were very surprised when I said that sox doesn't actually wear any boots or bandages for travelling. I don't travel him really as I don't have transport. Maybe I should put boots or bandages on him? I like the idea of travel boot as there easy to put on however they restrict the horses movement, so people say.

I know I don't travel sox that often , but would you still put either boots/ bandages on for travelling?
 
Bandages, Kia freaks out in boots. He can't balance well and ends up stomping on them bandages with the shaped Gamgee is much better and stays put.
 
I dont use anything on my feathered boys for general transportation but Albi wears Polypad soft travel boots on show days, just because he always poos in the trailer- so they are more to do with filth protection! They are very soft and Albi walks in and out normally with them on.... no Ministry of Funny Walks!!
 
I don't use anything for short trips, over 2 hours I will pop polo bandages on for bump protection, only because I think after a few hours they can get a little tried and more likely to misplace a foot. I do have travel boots but find them more of a faf, the silly walk and the blooming things tend to slip down after a while and then present a trip hazard, I've seen lots come off the wagon with the bottoms ripped where they have stood on them.
 
I've never used anything, mystique done 350 mile trip with no partition in the trailer,no boots and plenty hay. She was bright as a button at the end. She had travelled once before with the partition and came off a sweaty tired mess after 1 hour. I find if the horse has enough room to balance themselves knocks and tiredness are far less likely to happen while travelling than when we try and balance them or boot them.

The point to pointers never wore boots and none came to any harm.

One horse at work wears travel boots,he is on loan and worth a fair bit of money and everything is done the same way his owners done it, he is the one that does the most moving around in the lorry while the others without rarely make a noise.
 
Mine travelled over 600 miles without boots. Just tail guards and they were fine. Would have done them more harm than good as Storm resembles a jerky puppet if you put travel boots on her! We tried them years ago on a short journey, never again!
 
Another who doesn't use anything. Guess it depends on the horse and your own preference really.
 
I just pop a tail bandage on posy, otherwise she comes out the trailer with her tail looking like a bog brush ( complete with poo!)
 
If I had a thin skinned breed, I would use something, But the Shetlands and Icelandics have hide like a rhino
 
I tend to put brushing boots on backs and either travel boots, or stable boots, on fronts. D doesn't like boots on her backs, and hates travel boots even more so I don't bother.
 
Most professional transporters travel horses with nothing on. Our new box has a bar about 12" off the ground at the rear so we use bandages over shaped pads to protect hind legs, We refer bandages as t hey can be use for an initial warmup as well
