What is wrong with people!

Yet again I'm ashamed to belong to the human race, that is horrible, sickening amd very sad. Poor horse.

They should get more than just a lifetime ban, and as for the rspca not going out to check on it until the following day, they are just as guilty of its suffering by knowingly leaving it, a vet should have been sent as soon as it was discovered to put the poor thing down
Perhaps this article exposes how useless they really are.
Things have to be dead before they bother.

This made me wonder this morning, I was telling my hubby this morning while quietly sobbing, wondering how anyone could find that poor horse like that and not call a vet asap to come and put it out of its misery, he who isn't horsey said he wouldn't, he would pass that responsibility onto someone else, not because he doesn't care but because we live in such a greedy blame culture he'd be worried a potential owner might sue him down the line.
I personally could not have left that poor horse alone to die in pain and distress, it breaks my heart to think about it.

I have my vets number, I don't have any rescue numbers.
I would hope I would get a vet.

I know there is a petition around currently re rspca, but I feel the laws need looking at. If they do not even turn out with this type of call, that's as disgusting as the person (s) who dumped the horse.

This should result in a lifetime ban.

ANY abuser should have a lifetime ban. Its not like they suddenly change, an abuser of any kind in my eyes needs locking away and the key thrown.
The law needs a petition.
If you have received a prosecution as a result of negligence and or cruelty, if they don't ban you the first time (each case is different) then you should be if you are prosecuted a second time.

Rspca story.

It was reported in our local paper about an abandoned pony grazing on some land. The rspca wanted the owner to come forward. Pony in question had very very overgrown hooves and an odd growth that was covered in flies.
Local knowledge however knew that the owner had passed away. But the rspca needed to wait six months for them to come forward. Eh, did you not hear me.
Long story short. ILPH, (polite nudge to get off their arse) myself plus vet spent a morning catching this pony. I believe they were later rehomed. :D

I hate that the laws restrict these charities, but I also think its wrong that we rely on a charity, any charity to enforce the laws that do exist, it should really be down to a government funded organisation, be it the police, local council or whoever, animal wardens exist but they don't seem to take a lead in these cases. Our animal wardens are only available 9-5 Monday to Friday which is pretty useless.

Not dissimmilar to the photos @Gimp shared last week of the poor ponies still alive and suffering walking on their ergots with feet overgrown by many inches. ArsePCA claiming the feet were now sorted, Pah, Take months to sort those feet.

Exactly you don't just hack off the ends.

The ArsePCA only appear to get involved if animals are dead.
Thin not interested, emaciated to the point it can barely stand, interested.

As much as they are pretty much a waste of space, it's the laws that are outdated. They can't get access to a property without a police warrant.

There is this.
I think our dog wardens are just there to deal with dogs. Wildlife deal with that.

Horses seem to be the forgotten.

Thats a code, no mention of who enforces it though.
Our animal wardens deal with more than just dogs, the odd cat or bird I guess but they are pretty useless, I found a lost dog, they drug their heels about coming to get it, even asked if they really needed to and I'd tracked down the owner myself before they arrived. The police weren't interested at all.
I called the police about 6 loose ponies once, they didn't want to know until I pressed them saying there were on a single carriageway road, by a blind bend and highly likely to cause a serious road accident, it still took them 30 mins to travel the 4 or so miles from the station.

So it just leaves the rspca doesn't it. Everyone else passes the problem on. Who is supposed to enforce it?

In a similar situation here the EHO boys stepped in and got a 5 year ban for an animal abuser/neglecter.

I nipped and nipped and nipped at heels and made sure there were policemen there and I took photos and submitted them, The SSPCA man actually physicallt tried to stop me taking pictures, Luckily there was a policeman there too, the SSPCA man tried to get the policeman to stop me taking pics, so I told him they were fo my own private prosecution.....the little shit had to back down then,. He was a nice policeman who chased things up.
