Sorry I know its been asked before but a search isn't finding it for me.

What sprays do folks use that you apply yourself? (man meant to spray my nettles is struggling to find available time when its also not breezy and not forcast for rain)

Local ag store won't sell anything for spraying grazing (grazeon, headland polo etc) without proof of certification to use it, an online company will sell it but with a warning only certified people can use it, which makes me a bit nervous to do it :( and they both told me there isn't anything suitable for an uncertified user to apply to grazing but I know people knapsack spray their own....?

I've strimmed the nettles down. On the yard I just used Roundup and kept the girls and his nibs off it. I know someone was asking in our farmers merchants the other week for something for weeds en masse and the lady who works there couldn't sell it him, as he'd no proof / certification.

To be honest I think health and safety have gone bonkers, when we first bought Thrust you didn't need a certificate, now we can't buy it either because we don't have a certificate to say we are using it safely, for goodness sake, we are not idiots, it's basic common sense.

I'm the same as you, nervous to buy on line. There are all sorts of databases around these days, and I think it would be possible for them to check if you do actually have the correct qualification. Don't think you'd end up in prison if you got caught though:rolleyes:
I just use secateurs to take down docks, and nettles, or spot spray with a weedkiller from B&Q, but I don't have too many to keep on top of.

I spoke to them and said I wasn't certified and they said they can sell it to me, I'm just not allowed to use it:rolleyes:

What about a flame thrower - that's a joke to anyone who thinks that's a serious suggestion. People believe anything online these days. :D:p

As aside you can actually get a weed burner which kills the weed by heating it up and destroying the cells. Eco friendly.

I have a garden one but it struggles with my garden weeds, last time I had to weed kill those before burning and managed to catch my shed a light :p:rolleyes: so unless there is such a thing as a commercial flame thrower..... but then I don't think I'd trust myself after that :p
ETA I did put the shed out before it really caught light, it just has a little bit of blackening in one corner

This is the stuff we have. It took a few weeks to see the effects but it has been highly effective. Far better than roundup and the like.
That looks good for killing everything, but ideally I don't want to kill the grass so need a broadleaf selective herbicide, it also doesn't say how long the withdrawal period is before you can put stock back on the land, it seems a lot of the domestic use ones don't have any indication for grazing after use.

Your other option would be staff 500. Our neighbour uses that on docks and it doesn't appear to kill the grass. He has cattle and leaves his off a week after application. We didn't go with staff as we wanted something to nuke our mutant weeds!!

Thrust Jessey! It's a very good selective weedkiller and you only need horses off for two weeks, some things may need spraying a couple of times but it pretty much works on everything.
Just wanted to add, it's a million times better than grazon too. We buy ours from a company called pro green but my friend found it cheaper somewhere else, I'll ask her if you like?
