Mines only today but I'm making the most of it!

Spent the morning sorting Ale, catching up on housework and then made the mistake of trying to go food shopping on a Sunday

Did a little work on 3 college assignments that are due in a couple of weeks but Monty my degu was too distracting so ended up just playing with him instead whoops.

Now just sitting in the sun down my shares yard wrapped up in a rug letting him have some hay before I ride. Going to do a few jumps today just for fun.

Then I'll go and see ale on the way home again and once back I'll let the rats out for a run and spend some time with them. Then might watch a film with the cat :) Pretty much a perfect day off for me, if the ground was drier I would of squeezed a cycle in too but I can live without.

What are you all up to??

Pretty good. Went food shopping yesterday, boring...then today went out for a hack. It was lovely, bright sunshine and cold, lots of shadows on the road, the trees look lovely this time of year, got a wee bit chilly as we only walked and trotted but lovely all round really. Just cooking a roast right now

Dreadful tbh. Feel awful because I've had a chest infection for days and haven't slept for more than two hours every night! The weather has been vile and the horses had their first time out in the paddocks for three days. Boo hiss. Only thing that has kept me going is their lovely furry faces over their doors!
Hope everyone has had a good one.

I got up, seen to the dog , cats and parrot at home before heading down to the yard. I got Marley and Rummy their breakfast then fed the sheep and the yard carts. Mucked out the stables and groomed Marley then tacked him up and we rode for 30 mins in the field and spent some time going over, around and through the poles I have set up . He was feeling great today again, he broke into canter uphill when not asked (too wet and muddy to canter!) ..cheeky lol but I was grinning from ear to ear, so glad he is feeling good in himself again. I then put the sheep out into the back field then turned Marley and Rummy out.
I headed back to the house and made lunch for everyone , then put some washing on and hoovered the house. I then went to the small local supermarket to get some essentials in and now I am back in the house and going to get dinner prepared then head back down to yard before it gets dark to bring the boys in for the night. Yesterday I didn't ride but I took the dog for a walk around a local forest with a friend and her dog.

Hello how are you Mrs? I am an old member. I had Cherie Evie and Summer. I sold Summer, Evie died but I still have Chez pony and she is fine. I am on full livery now whilst I finish my fine art degree. Had a lovely ride this morning xxx

Yesterday did a bit of *whispers* Christmas shopping.

Today I needed to shorten Jack's mane. It had got down past the bottom of his neck and was starting to get wind plaits, so I chopped about 6" off. Much more manageable and smart. The boys moved into the 15-acre winter grazing today, which is literally feet from his stable, so lovely and convenient...although there is plenty of grass so he will continue to live out for a while yet.

Albi still can't resist coming to say hello too. Old habits die hard...

In between the mane shortening and being turned out in the new field, this happened....

I know we decided to retire him last spring... But we didn't realise just how well and healthy he would look...and behave! I did literally hop on for 3 mins, around a very short "block" but he strode out nicely and he even broke into a small trot when asked, so maybe I'll try a slightly longer hack and see how he fares. Only walking, of course, he's unfit, under-muscled and out of practise....but I think he might appreciate a change of scene for a few minutes. We'll see....

@Trewsers I hope you're feeling better soon.

We had a weekend off hunting and went to her first jumping clinic. She was brilliant, jumped her first spread and fillers. We only jumped small (course of 80cm) because she's so forward everything seems to come very quickly so working on getting her into the corners and steady which I don't think will ever happen :pWe also managed to stay in the arena although did nearly jump the wing at one point

My instructor really liked her and said she would love to event her and wouldn't bother putting her in a BE80 but just put her straight in a BE90 and go from there as she's so bold and scopey which was nice to hear. Not sure the dressage would be good lol but nice to know she's got the jump.

Once I shake this awful infection off I'll be back in the land of the living properly lol
Sorry to hear about Evie. Fine art degree sounds ace!!!

I haven't stopped. Yesterday went to work briefly then back home to get sheep in as I had someone coming to view them to buy. They nipped home for lunch and a change of clothes as I was drenched, then back to the yard as someone else was coming to view and buy the rest I had for sale. Then I had arranged to go for a ride. So squeezed in a quick one before dark. It rained pretty much from 11am till 5pm so I was soaked after the second viewing so I thought a soggy ride isnt going to matter. I wormed the boys friday. With a view to moving them off there really muddy field. So having run out of time I had to put up electric fencing in the dark. At least it stopped raining. Chunkys rug was soaked through so I sported him to a brand new rug I brought in the sale months ago. So he is looking very glam now.
This morning I went to work for a couple of hours. Then went for a ride. I also wanted to get the rams in with the remaining sheep so yesterday put the soggy girls in the shed to dry. They needed there feet trimming before they go in as as I won't trim once in lamb. So they stayed in over night and dried out. I'm so far behind with putting the rams in due to my injuries. I haven't been able to do much. But with some assistance today we have trimmed all and got the rams in and harnessed and they are now having there jolly with the ladies. A very busy weekend, but so much achieved so I'm looking forward to going to work tomorrow for a rest. Haha.

This sounds exhausting!! Hope you get to take it a bit easier soon

That picture of the rats is so cute.
How come I like these rats but not the ones on my yard?

Not a good weekend for me. Mylo was very spooky on our ride on Saturday. Don’t know what up with him, but he’s not happy about something. I have asked saddle fitter to come back. Rode him in school on Sunday in his old saddle. He’s is great in walk, happy to try leg yielding and shoulder in, but just won’t go forward into trot.
The field are also so muddy and there is nothing but rain forecast this week!
The only good thing about this weekend was the film we watched last night “X&Y”. Great film if you get chance to watch it.

I’ll shut up and stop moaning now:oops:

I had a lovely day on Saturday, it was cold, dry and sunny all weekend :D so I pottered about at the yard doing chores, reset the electric fencing to allow for winter strip grazing, shuffled about hay stations so there is now 5 to use plus the 'hay factory' one, got the barn straightened up and went for a lovely ride at lunch time, unfortunately Hank got himself in a sweaty mess again, he was quietly grazing the new strip I gave him to distract him, then the neighbours horses kicked off about Jess leaving and he promptly followed suit :( He was still wet by sun down and it was a bloomin cold night so I spent a lot of it worrying he would catch a chill. Sunday was again lovely but very cold, so I spent hours mentally wrestling with myself, while doing chores, about Hank getting sweaty again and ended up not riding :( and just had a lazy day watching a box set.

Fab weekend. Took Amber on a long hack. Love her floppy donkey ears! Incidentally, I was in Hi Viz. I don't dictate what others do!!

Max and Izzy went showjumping. He popped round 80/85 beautifully so I finally relented and let her enter a 90/95. (Single phase event so last 5 fences were 95). Scary stuff but Max made fairly easy work of it, just catching a pole on a couple of uprights when Izzy had let the canter get a bit long and flat. He's only 6 so this was both of their first round at this height. So proud of them. Superstar pony.

Ginny is still settling in - she is improving all the time but mentally and physically still seems a little below par. Those long trips over from Ireland must sometimes be quite stressful for a young pony. But she has the makings of a lovely pony. She just needs time to get fitter and healthier and to settle in.

Exhausting! It was the last normal show of the year and we took 8 horses both days o_O so I didn't get a sit down all day. Saturday we started 7am and I got home at 8pm, Sunday we started 6am and I got home just before 10pm. Luckily Monday is my day off so I got a lie-in!
Just one more show to come and it's going to be a long one! Got 3 horses competing in a CSI, two of them have their vetting on Wednesday and are jumping Thursday Friday Saturday, the other is vetted Thursday and jumping Friday Saturday Sunday. For the internationals the horses have to stay on-site from vetting onwards so we have to go back and forth for feeding etc as well as jumping!
