Well today Poohsmate came to visit, complete with gifts of Pronutro and Bjiltong which he very kindly bought me back from his trip to South Africa - because I bullied him into it!!!

Not only did he come bearing presents, he was also invaluable helping me buy my second hand Black Country from ebay - even in South Africa he wasn't safe, having to look at pictures of her horses back, my horses back, asking for measurements .............! Anyway, we won it, and today he came down to Devon to fit and re-flock it.

He did fab distance work because it fitted really well as soon as he put it on - the tree shape was just brilliant for Toby, and after re-flocking it, it is brilliant. Whilst there, he advised three other people on their saddles, some treed, some treeless, on position, one lady's saddle was way too narrow for her horse, sorted the shimming and pads for another two and was just so helpful and knowledgeable we all had a lovely day.

Some pics of Tobes in his new saddle. Yes, I know my position is hopeless, my hands and legs are all wrong, and it is what YO keeps saying to me. Somehow, now I have seen in on pics, it is all finally sinking in - too much giving with hands, legs too far back - the list of what is wrong with me is endless!!!!

Oops, too many pics - shall have to post in diary!

Hope you don't mind me saying... but i think you are being very hard on yourself! To me your leg looks good. I was taught that heel should be under hip, and yours looks perfectly lined up! From someone who spends her whole life trying to keep her lower leg back...

Mrs you don't half give yourself a hard time about riding position! Stop it! It's not bad!

Nice to hear supernorm sorted you out... And the whole yard by the sounds of it! One day he will visit me I am sure..... Hopefully...hint hint!

Well done on the new saddle:happy:

OOh - biltong! The stuff you buy here just isn't the same... But what's Pronutro?

As for position, I agree with kaliko99 - it's fine. You could perhaps bend your elbows a little more, that's all.

OMG SJP i think these are the FIRST pics ive ever seen of you riding tobes!!

Looking guuuuuuuuuuuuuuurd!

The indoor school looks well posh

Tobes is lovely :D

And don't be so critical of yourself, your legs are not too far back at all imo - your shoulders elbows hips and heels should all be in line :) but i am yet to see a person who does ride with their elbows that far back! :D

Nice to see some pics of you and Toby, he's lovely and bigger than I imagined.

How do you like the saddle? I think I might have been watching that one on eBay - was it the one where the seller had posted pics of her ID x TB (I think) wearing the saddle?

I really fancy a black country myself but haven't been brave enough to bid on one yet.

I completely agree. The first thing I noticed was how good your shoulder/hip/heel alignment is. When it comes to arms and elbows I normally look like I am pushing a kiddies buggy. Don't be so hard on yourself!

This! And it's nice to "see" you again sjp1

Ditto the others - you ARE really hard on yourself. By the time I'd read your comments on yourself I was almost dreading looking at the pics!

Tobes is lovely and you look like your seat is nice and secure - not sure I would look quite so "in" my saddle lol.

xx

What really kind comments, thank you all so much.

It was the Black Country with the lady who had a coloured horse who had to be retired because he had some problem with his back legs, but can't remember what.

Poohsmate was very helpful - I don't think I would have been brave enough to take the plunge without his help at all!!!

Indoor arena is lovely I must say!!!! Coming from a yard with no concrete AT ALL, we hardly know ourselves. We have loos and a tearoom and everything!!!
