I have had my boy just coming up to a year now, we have had some very rough times and it has took a while for us both to trust each other.
I have my own field and stables just up the road from my house, so its just me and mine, no other horses.
Marley hasn't been ridden out with an other horse since I have had him but tomorrow a friend is boxing over her horse and her daughters pony so we can all go out hacking together.
I know this is the best way to see what he will behave like as its his usual hack we will be going on, so he doesn't have the added stress of new surroundings. Deep down I think he will be a bit excited but hopefully nothing too unmanageable but I still have butterflies just thinking about it. Its usually just me and him heading out on our lonesome, I do think he will enjoy the company and I know as long as he behaves I will definitely enjoy some company, someone to have a chat with while hacking would be such a change for me:) but i still am a bit (lot:eek:) anxious .

He's bound to be a little excited, my normal approach to minimising it is a good workout the day before and a good belly full of hay the morning of, jess is always more chilled on a full belly :D

Oh dear he has today off:eek: but I will make sure he has a good feed of hay, he has adlib soaked hay when he is in his stable, I will let him have plenty of time to fill up on it ;)

Hope it's snowing by you today and you manage to get out!

We had torrential rain all through the night and this morning, followed by sleet, but thankfully no snow. It has stopped now and the sun is trying to break through, Hopefully we will still get out this afternoon.

I hope he is not too silly, i will do an update later o_O

I do hope it is going or has gone well. It has turned into a gorgeous day this far down too, so hoping it is better up your way. :)

Couldn't be more pleased with Marley:D When my friend and her daughter first arrived and brought their horse and pony into my yard Marley was very excited, I could hardly get him to stand still while I tacked him up and I thought Oh No what have I let myself in for! I managed to tack him up and lead him out to meet his new friends(lots of snorting and side stepping). then we headed off. When leaving the yard I went to go out first as I thought it only proper as it was a new place and surroundings for my friends horses but Marley must have thought I was making him leave without them and he did a small mini rear, he then was a bit joggy down the road but after a couple of hundred yards he settled and was great, really relaxed and chilled, I couldn't have hoped for better, for not being out in company for over a year I think he was marvelous:D

Brilliant so pleased for you. Wish I had a hacking buddy, I bet Dolly would love company too. :)

Thanks Cortrasna, I told them they could come anytime as they seemed to like my wee hacking route, it is all roads and she is wanting hers to get more used to traffic, so she said she would take me up on it, so here's hoping, Marley loved the company but so did I ;) I am a bit of a loner and like going out just him and me but it was nice to have someone to chat to and have a laugh.
