I love my boy to bits however he's not anything I'd of expected I'd love as much, I'm so very lucky to of found him and we are now the best of friends and he has a fab personality, is kind natured with a dollop of pony cheekiness that makes me love him even more! :D If I'm been honest though although he jumps well he isn't as capable as I'd like him to be, however realistically with young children I don't have the time to compete like I once enjoyed and so ATM he's perfect for me. So I would say he is my ideal horse for where I'm at in life ATM, and he can do all RC stuff and always tries his heart out for me( which means a lot) and is so nice around my kids, TBH I don't know if I could ever part with him as everyday he makes me smile. Does your horse/pony make you smile and what makes them special to you?:) x

Jess is almost perfect in terms of ridden (when she's sound) there's not much I'd want to do that she can't have a good crack at, I've been toying with getting another but none come close to her which makes them less enjoyable.
Hank is just Hank, never in a million years would I have gone looking for a 32" pony, and he's not the best companion for Jess as he bugs her constantly to play but he's not a bad egg :D

To be honest, no, but then he was bought for Jim not me & no horse or pony will ever be able to take his place. He's got a home for life at least in part because he's got problems, he's very sweet & a lot of fun so he's not exactly a hardship to keep.

Belle is perfect for me, she's a calm and laid back horse, but she can and will try anything I ask her too and yes she makes me smile every single day, she has a cheeky side and sometimes an 'opinion' but is never ever naughty. She's not a competition horse but I don't want or need her to be, I adore her.

Oh gosh, what a good question! In all honesty I think it's too soon for me to tell whether Gracie is my ideal steed as we are still very much getting to know each other. But what I CAN say is that so far there has been little to put me off her! "Ideal" is a personal opinion. Gracie knows the basics but has room for me to tweak and improve her so that I can put my mark on her, so to speak. I will try to remember to answer this question this time next year!

Well, he's not what I ought to have bought, that's for sure. I would have liked a pony who could teach me how to jump: Ziggy can't do that, and now I'm nearly 57 I don't imagine I will ever learn. But I wanted a hacking pony, and he is really good at that; I wanted to learn to ride better, and although he is not schooled he is so responsive, willing and generous in the school that I have learned absolutely loads from him; and I wanted a pony to love, and I swear that on the whole of God's broad earth there isn't a more loveable pony than Ziggy. And I think 3 out of 4 isn't bad.

I'm filling up a bit now because I love him so. Sorry *snif*

My 13 year old daughters main pony she's riding ATM is so suited to her, it's Marish, quirky, sharp and at times a little cowbag:D however as my daughters 13 they seem to complement each other well as at times my daughter has similar qualities;) the pony jumps very well and they have lots of fun together, despite having a fair few falls along the way.:D My daughter loves her to bits and TBH I think the pony actually likes my daughter more than me as I school her at times and really make her work. I suppose it just shows everyone's ideal steed is different. x

My just turned 9 year old daughters pony is a really sweet pony, can nip ocassionally but just a bit of a mare:rolleyes: My 9 year old loves the bones of her but isn't the most confident child despite the pony being a good pony so we are building up confidence yet again ATM:rolleyes: My daughter loves grooming and the stable chores though and TBH happily potters about with her. I don't think she is the perfect pony for my daughter but then again I think I'd struggle to find the perfect one as I think the issues are more my daughters than the ponys:( If things don't change in the next 12 months I'm seriously considering looking for a nice reg Shetland for her to show in hand and finding this pony a home where she's enjoyed more. x

After 7 years I've definitely come to the conclusion that Cleo is my ideal horse... although I do wish she was a hand taller.

In the future I think I'd like something that's still safe and sensible but can step up a gear flatwork wise :)

If I could have Kia reincarnated I would. He's not pretty, he's not amazingly bred nor put together but he is my soulmate so yes he is perfect, I'm just sad we are reaching the end of our journey x
So sad @MrC that's how I felt about my 14.2hh gelding, he wasn't just a pony to me and I will never find another him:( out of all the horse/ponies I've had over the years I'd still give anything to reincarnate my 14.2hh. I miss my 12.2hh 1st pony too but my 14.2 was a very special boy and my horse of a lifetime. x

How did you come by Kia @MrC?

He was bought for my mum actually :) We heard about him through word of mouth, travelled through to see him, I hacked him back in just a headcollar from his field about a mile from the main yard, he took us two hours to catch , W/T/C and popped a jump, mum got on and went for a pootle in the school, she lost her stirrups in trot and he can back to halt let her get sorted then carried on, he was sold to us as that moment. He passed a five stage vet including bloods and that was that.

He was underweight and hadn't been ridden in about 4 years but he's been the most perfect pony. It was a shame my mum lost her confidence on another pony but I gained the best wee horse ever after my TB hurt herself and was retired to stud and my loan horse went back to his owner after I left the yard I was working on.

Yes Storm is my horsey soulmate, despite being not an ideal first horse. We have been through a lot together and she is a huge part of my life. I finally had to come to terms with her being retired properly this year - but I still cherish every single bit of time we spend together and seeing her just relaxing and eating (which she excells at!) makes me happier than anyone can ever know. I miss riding her, she was so special in that respect (and sharp) and she has taught me an awful lot, but enjoying being around her is still one of my favourite pastimes. I never get bored with sitting together in the field or worshipping her in her box:D

Ben is absolutely perfect in everyway for me, and I wouldn't change a single thing about him. Actually that is a lie, I would change the fact that he can be a pain to catch sometimes, but it's all part of his personality and no-one is good all the time!

I miss Maisie a lot tho she was quite unsuitable for a novice - as I was when we first met. The polo player Cambiaso cloned his fav. horse. Several times over, it seems. I dont like the idea but apparently it is true. Tho yesterday someone told me that one cant clone an older horse. I dont know if any of this is true.

Arns is my perfect pony, the love of my life and my soulmate. I thought there would only ever be one but now my dear Corrie is the other half of my heart (although thinking about it my heart must be in quarters for the two ponies and two cats!).

@MrC and @Trewsers that's how I feel about my old boy. He is everything to me and there's not much I wouldn't give to take 10 years off him. But just having him in my life is enough.

My Connie is a pretty good match, he loves to jump and he's decent on the flat but it's not his favourite pastime, like it isn't mine. He's really good that he's so easy to take out and about and I have a lot of fun on him. He may only be 14.3hh but he has loads of scope and is nick named "the flying connemara" so i don't feel like my friends are way ahead of me on their bigger horses. I rode a friend's horse yesterday and made me realise how nice he is to ride. He's the sort of pony a small child could ride bareback one day and I could be out competing the next.
