Been doing more sporatic play depending on the weather.
I did start something new playing circus pony together with Sonny and Andi.
We used to do it at the old house I am playing in the padock and third are and also letting them out together during good weather.
It has only been a few days but it is working out well.
I am getting decent controlled play in the paddock and in the third area they can step it up a bit but they are still being rather well controlled.
As I do more I will fine tune it.
I also started a round pen in the shade between the area and first big round pen where I have been letting sonny eat the tall grass.
Its not fancy panels or tall... at the moment its just the posts and rope to feel it out for size and placement then I will add the wire.
It gives me a further place to do some play in shade.
I tried it out late yesterday afternoon and it seems to be good.

I have not heard hard fast about the horses yet but when my vet called to give me the vit e and selenium results I did ask her about it.
There are no EIA outbreaks in this area or surrounding states and the horses did not come from out west where there are some outbreaks.
its not 100% but most likely all will be clear.
Toni and I may play today depending on how soon the rain get here.

As i try to get more finesse back there was a time I had them going opposite to each
other years ago.
Id love to prefect that again.
BUT SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE.

Not an action shot lol but just today I took this of him having some quiet time in his apartment. Rode him day before yesterday and he shook himself like a dog well I was miles away and wasn't expecting it, hahahahaa, 17hh of horse doing the dog shake thing lol my thighs found a couple of muscles they didn't knew existed!!! (That's Storm in the distance in one of her new paddocks).

Done a bit of circus pony play and some with Sonny alone in the rain in the last couple days.

The weather has not been cooperating very well today included.

And oooo its been CRITTER DAYS UGH.

I was doing waters and trying to hand cut a bit of grass for andi and the goats between paddocks and something brown runs past me under an upturned wheel barrel I use to move hay to the goats barn but it did not run out the other side.
I carefully look and think ugh I have not seen any rats...
it was a teeny tiny baby bunny looking up at me very cute..
Then start to do goats hay and toss a big flake over the wall go to reach for more
and thought there was a ribbon look webbing dog leash with a stripe down the center in the hay.
THANK GOD I did not grab for it.
All of a sudden i realize im looking at it and ITS LOOKING BACK.
It was a 3 ft garder snake that was not inside the hay flakes when I grabbed the one flake
it must have come from below and curled on the hay.
I like snakes and im not afraid of them but i DONT want to touch one or get bitten.

I have to look before grabbing now.

I happened to look out back camera towards the goats and saw some animal running across the back it was too far away for a good look then something brown going behind the trailer when i was putting sonny in the back paddock.
I think that was a wood chuck cause one ran into a hole in the stone wall later on

But then yesterday my husband said yesterday a baby wood chuck ran right thru his shop door past him to the corner and into some kind of a pipe in there behind an air compressor that was there.
I think I saw mama twice.
The horses are enjoying getting as dirty as they can.

The bit of circus play I did together in Andi's paddock I was soooo thrilled I got a really
nice reverse from them both that was very fluid.
I'm just going to keep building on it slowly.

Yuk! We've had lots of rats recently. We've got a fat barn cat, Chester, who hasn't been doing his job, and a whole family of rats (BIG ones) have been stealing his food, while he visits the cat next door. The YO put a poison block in a pipe with a banana skin, which they totally ignored. I pointed out that I didn't think any self respecting rat would bother with a mouldy banana skin when there was a bowl of nice fresh cat food sitting there! Anyway, eventually we smeared cat food on the blocks, and they started disappearing. It took 2 weeks of them taking the blocks, to finally be rat free - that's 2 blocks a day, so how many rats did we have!!!! Shudder! I honestly think they were too big for the cat to cope with, so he moved out until they were gone! He's back now, lazy sod. If it gets hot, we'll need to watch out for adders soon, though haven't seen any for a couple of years, we used to get loads. Again, YUK.

Yep rats are far too clever to accept a mouldy banana!!!
We had lots at the old house, they lived in the dry stone walls. I actually like rats (shouldn't admit to that one) but I don't want too many and nor do I want them in the house. Barn cat here used to keep the populous down. We have some visiting cats which is good. Can't have too many! I put food out for those but they eat it rapidly long before the rats dare to come out (I watch).
Neighbour has a jack russell, think he was hoping it would do the trick on getting shut of any around his property. Trouble is, rats are BIG and the dog is small!!!

Hacked out 1 hour on Thursday. As we set off saw crazy lady getting her crazy horse ready, down the lane. Fastest hack we've ever had!! Did NOT want to meet her while out, so trotted pretty much the whole way - Hogan was a bit bewildered at the speed we went but took it in his stride. Met her as we headed home, but he didn't mind, precisely because we were headed home! Out today with friend and her field mate - really good. We went round the outside of the inclosure, and I got off once, before he could get agitated by 3 mares and their foals. Got back on and he was fine. He definitely hates not being in front, so any suggestions as to how to deal with that, would be appreciated. At present, I'm just dropping behind his buddy for a few moments, then moving back up, but even those few moments wind him up! All in all, I'm pretty pleased with his progress, but a way to go, yet.

I rode the ginger one today - he was fabulous!! Love him, he puts up with my nervous leg clamping - never bats an eyelid! Mr T rode him too and it was nice seeing them together, they fit very well all in all. Can't wait to start the new track / farm ride (sounds grander than it really is lol) that will be good - and mean a change of scenery for Zi without having to go on the roads. I didn't gel at all with his boots - and I don't get along on the roads too well either, so this seems like a good solution. Lol I am so low key - not really a hacker at all, but we enjoy our pootles..............

He does this all the time. He can stay like that for a good 4 or 5 minutes, gazing round the field.

OOOH sooo excited on a virtual riding challenge here NO FOOT IN A TRAILER WOO HOO

I picked up my money for a saddle Friday and the owner told me about the riding challenge
you compete by video. Its basicly versatility woo hoo my favorite.
I don't do facebook but I can compete sending the video thru email to her and get my
class patterns thru email too..

There was a meeting at the tack shop on Saturday evening and I went.
Its going to be soooo much fun. Toni could not go.
It was a fun meeting and nice people it turns out one mother and daughter live in my town a couple miles from here.
WE got some tips and saw a few videos etc generally lots of fun.
The owner had been a horse show judge with 9 different cards for 38 years.
The ribbons are recycled and the classes are 8.00 with the money going to
a rescue or therapeutic riding etc etc as a donation.
Like haul in there are divisions beginner thru highly advanced etc and adult and junior and in hand and mounted.

I signed up for 3 classes beginner in hand and mounted then OPEN WHICH IS MOUNTED
and open to any one.

Every one will get their patterns for their classes sent to them on the same day for th juluy show its the 11th then you practice and have to have your video sent in by the 25th.
She said the obstacles should be items most barns have around and availiable.

It took a bit but I figured out how to send my email a video from my phone then i tried
forewarding it to my husbands email and it worked.
So im good with that part.

Later Sunday afternoon and yesterday am Toni and I played and she took some video
and I practiced sending it to myself it was sooooooooooo hot and sticky that it was just in hand and I don't know what patterns or obstacles so its just a practice different things.

Woo hooToni is also going to do it yea..

Watching video I have to be careful with my lead and backing straight etc etc
one thing lol I have good is GROUND TIE.... at least that's a good starting point



it was just so steamy hot ugh
even yesterday am in the shade under the trees on the side yard it was still so hot
even in shorts..

The riding part we will probably have to do late evenings
I hope we catch a break heat wise.
This is going to be our first one so it is what it is..
There is no August one cause heat will be even worse but September should be better
temperature wise.

I need to work on position and use the shorter lead to not have so much led to get messy.
and go thru slow and methodically no rushing.

Last weekend was our annual riding camp. It was tricky this year as my lorry is *still* broken. I borrowed a lorry and dropped Harvey off on Thursday night.

Friday was flatwork and polework, Saturday was gridwork and XC technique, and Sunday was XC and showjumping. I was in the 70cm class for xc (although we jumped higher) and 90cm for SJ

Last year XC was a disaster with Harvey just napping and running. This year he was much better and we jumped loads of fences. Sadly he lost a shoe in the XC but I decided to SJ anyway as it was on a surface. I don't think he was actually quite right which culminated in me sitting on the last fence

He also got weighed and he is now 666kg with a condition score of 2.75
