What's everyone up to this weekend?

I've not got much planned really, working today and tonight (18 hour day here we come), going to ride at least 1 ned tomorrow, possibly 2 if Jess looks ok, need to get up to World Horse Welfare between 10-1 for their 2nd hand tack shop as Indie needs a rug or two (he's borrowing Jess' for now). Then I'm going to swap Jess and Indies paddock areas over, let them both get used to each others smells some more. Then an early night me thinks :) Sundays weather isn't looking so bright, so going to play that by ear but probably another ride in store :)

Hopefully a ride on billy and drive for chunky both days.
Tomorrow we are supposed to be loading up five cows with there babies and taking them up to the top of the hill to rejoin the other three cows and there babies. The three already moved a couple of weeks ago to new green pasture as they were all heifer calves and didnt need dehorning. The other five stayed at home to keep an eye on them after there castrations and for there dehorning last weekend. All has gone smoothly with no issues so they can be moved now. It would have been sods law that if we'd moved them last weekend someone would have knocked there head and the fields where they are going have no facilities if we need to catch for any emergency treatment. The move will take a bit of time as we will have to do three seperate trips. Then drive them a couple of miles to the new grazing.
Ive got to alter the horse fencing around as the boys have run out of grazing, and its starting to cut up. Considering how wet its been the patch theyve been on has lasted 8 weeks with me rotating the areas within the patch. Im going to have to let them start grazing the lunging area now. Ive been stressing all week as to how to do it, as billy has started his little antics of not wanting to be caught as he knows i will be lunging. Hes been good to go 7 weeks before playing up. Ive still been able to catch him fairly easily being in small strips. But in a large paddock i can see it getting interesting. Im thinking of giving them the whole of the lunge paddock for a week. Then taking out all the strip grazing on the paddock they are on and grazing that the next week. The one thats resting each week will then be used for lunging in. With the cows moved off as well i will have a bit of extra as i can use there part of the field for a few lunges to.

Tomorrow morning, my OH and I have the very exciting job of going to buy whatever painting supplies we need for painting the kitchen cabinets and replacing their handles. We are also hoping to also find an Otterman for the kitchen ... but I may have lost the will to live by then:D

Saturday afternoon I've roped my poor Mum into videoing groundwork and riding of Pete and I. We are two weeks into a Parelli online course focusing on refinement in our groundwork - which is fun! It does mean we have to submit a lot of videos for feedback ;)

Saturday evening, we might go to the cinema ... but we are getting hooked into The Masked Singer on TV too!

Sunday - Pete and I are hacking early before OH and I go over to my parent's house for early Birthday celebrations :)

Working tomorrow until about four. Then probably catching up on house hold chores and yard chores by torchlight! Still having trouble with my tooth and now have the added lovely jaw pain which is now under investigation..................so not really feeling the love for doing very much other than work which I have to do in order to get paid. (Thinking ahead to my next set of dental bills!). Sunday I'll be resting and dreading the Monday appointment in equal measure........................Haven't ridden since coming off Zi Christmas day, I don't think I'll be getting on board him any time soon. I've more or less adjusted my mind set to being one of those owners that just has three large pets...........................................

Oh I'm sorry to hear your still under the weather @trewswers.
I was hoping I could convince you to get back on zi with my bit of encouragement. Maybe one day you will. Hope your bruising has gone from the fall.

Aw no, I hope your appointment goes well and give immediate relief from the pain. I bet you'll be back on once the weather cheers up and the evenings draw out, it would be a shame not to :)

Sending huge sympathy for your tooth. I have my 4th root canal appointment looming soon but thankfully the abscess I had seems to have disappeared so that dreadful pain has gone.

Is your confidence down after falling off?

I am spending my weekend writing an essay for uni. And weighing in at Weight Watchers as I finally decided that my weight needed to go once and for all. I have lost 23 pounds so far (since October) so feeling quite proud of myself. Plus I will walk Ben round the fields on both days. He is doing so well at the moment and am almost up to plucking up the courage to book his vet appointment to see if he can trot....

My lovely neighbour sold her horse and is giving up, and very kindly gave me her feed bin, filled with brushes, fly stuff, hoof stuff, hibiscrub - all sorts, plus a charger for the electric fencing. I'm going up to the field tomorrow and going to sort all through it, and find a good hiding place in the barn for the charger. It'll be really handy as a spare for emergencies. I also want to trim Hogans feathers properly, I've been a bit cavalier about it, and really just chopped a bit off now and then. Smarten him up a bit for the spring!

Thank you, I'm not bruised but my confidence has completely gone. Back to square one! I doubt if I'll ride him again, I just hope that Mr T will start riding him when spring comes as he's a lovely horse and has such a lot to offer. He's sadly not right for me, I realised that from the start, but sort of hoped I'd be able to enjoy the odd pootle about, nothing strenuous. Maybe something will find me, I need something a lot lot smaller - the fall was so dam painful and for me being five feet, coming down hard of just over 17hh really did have an impact. Thanks for the encouragement anyway, I still enjoy looking after him!

Ah I remember you were having root canal treatment too! Mine failed, I had it re-opened for the third time this week and it was so traumatic - I was in the chair two full hours and I can't bear to go through it again :( I've asked if pulling it will get rid of the infection and pain but it seems there is more going on - something in the bone which I'm having investigated on Monday.:( Glad to hear your abscess has done, they are dreadful I know.
Yes my confidence was never that high but after the seemingly pointless fall on Christmas day it's gone completely. If I can't stay on him when he spooks like that at nothing in particular there is no hope ! We were only walking down the longside of the school. He just spooked and I couldn't stay on board. I'd only been on him a few seconds - it sounds comedic really.

Oh good luck with the dentist. I had 2 fillings last week -£280 !!! I'll have to cancel next month's - just can't afford it. Never say never, all the time in the world to see if you feel like getting on again, or maybe finding something a bit lower to fall off! 17hh IS a long way down, not sure if I even fancy the drop from 13hh!

Thanks, I'll just be glad to know what's going inside the bone, it's not really tooth ache now, nor sensitivity, it's really difficult to explain (not even the dentist seems to grasp what I mean) but it's intermittent violent pain in my face in different places. Eeek.

I know the expense mounts up doesn't it? I'm not too bad as I have a plan with the dentist but I had a bit saved for this sort of thing anyway. Yes, I need something about 13hh! My Storm was about right at 15hh - I felt she was a good match for me. Zi just feels too big and I don't feel now like I have any real staying power on him. I can't wrap my legs around him. He's not slim like a tb either (used to ride OH's tb who was 16.3hh) I think that's part of the problem with him being a quite chunky warmblood. I need to encourage OH to ride him more, he was bought for him afterall.

That was nice of your neighbour, enjoy having a good sort!

I am so sorry your tooth is still troubling you Trewsers. My dentist couldnt get all of my broken tooth out so left a root in there (meaning no implant) and put me on antibiotics over Christmas. They worked. But I am left like a toothless crone.

As for falls and height of horse. I think you are right to avoid 17 h. Poor you. Maisie unfortunately grew to 16 h but I tried to ignore that.

But you may well find you want to ride again when the weather gets better? I havent ridden since I got so cold before Christmas. So many of my falls have been in January and not riding in winter makes sense now as Physio said yesterday that heat was very important for my back. But I have been hankering after the horse. And not working as much or as well as I ought. I wouldnt be on NR if I were working!

Why oh why do some people never have any problems with their teeth, and the rest of us suffer physically and financially with the damned things!? My friend, same age as me, has not visited a dentist for 40 years. She's phobic about it. But she has no pain, no problems, and worse still - LOVELY, EVEN, WHITE TEETH. I'd grind mine at the injustice, but it would probably hurt.

Sorry about your tooth/jaw problems @Trewsers..I hope Monday isn't too bad and you get sorted out for once and for all. Good luck with yours too @Mary Poppins. I think you're both very brave.

@Huggy I have a mouthful of fillings, more filling than tooth in most of my back ones. My dentist told me that was because they used to drill the whole lot out at the slightest hint of decay and they no longer do that these days. Which does make me wonder if I hadn't been taken to the dentist so religiously by my mother when I was growing up, would I still have a full set of pearly whites?

At my last dentist's surgery where we used to live, his assistant was fifty and had never had toothache or a filling! She had wonderful even teeth. Grrrr. (I am always quick to blame it on being an age / generational thing but it clearly isn't). My poor mum looked after her teeth and ended up losing them all. I hope I am not destined to be the same................................

Yes I hope that the better weather will mean I feel more inclined to ride, though what horse I don't know..............I hope Mr T will ride Zi more when the weather comes nice. Though with work being so busy it's hard to fit it in. Even the smallest shortest ride takes him away from his desk for a length of time he doesn't have atm.
