Merry Christmas to you all

Delivered my box of Christmas cheer to my friend on the way to the field - she'll be home from night shift about 8. Fed the boys, the cat, and poo picked as best I could in the dark. Will now prepare for the hoardes.

Dreadful day so far, was out putting feed in for hens, heard screaming and dogs barking and screaming, rushed out. Bloody neighbours German shepherds from next door running loose on our communal driveway and have attacked another dog who was walking past on the road and on the lead, poor little corgi, grabbed it shook it to bits, and bit the owner who was hysterical. Took her other dog off her to safety while bastard neighbour tried to get out of it, saying corgi was ok. This is the third dog they have savaged, one who lives next door and was attacked in its own garden , and who one also was walking past on the road on the lead and who lives next door to this one! They let them run around as a pack of 4, out of control. So we had a bit of a slanging match as I mentioned to the lady who had been bitten that it wasn't the first time they had done it....so i got told by neighbours to go away and once the lady and dogs left, i got shouted at by them. so I told them in no uncertain terms that if their bloody dogs got on our land i would report them, and will have a word with the owner of the dog attacked, as happy to be her witness. There could have been a child there, it's just not good enough.

@diplomaticandtactful how horrid, I hope the little corgi recovers.

Not a great day in our fields either. All mine are fine but little Toto, the Shetland who only came a couple of months ago as companion to a big ex-eventer, was found this morning with a broken leg. Both of those boys played very rough and he just caught the wrong kick, it seems.

I ran back to the house to make his distraught owner a mug of strong coffee and ran back to her. She had her boyfriend with her, so I didn't need to stay to wait for the knacker, but it put a damper on my morning. All the horses were upset, too: Toto made friends on every side.

Things are better at home though, and I hope you all have a much less eventful day than D&T and me. Merry Christmas.

Shoukd be reported to the local police who will then probablhy call on the owner.

@Ale Gingerbread for breakfast sounds unlikely except for Hansel and Gretel, Was listening to a bit of the opera on line yesterday as my father was very fond of it. But one lives and learns. ake care Ale as my family did not come for lunch. We had a zoom meeting to open presents, and daughter says many of her colleagues, neighbours and her cleaner all have covid.

So far so good here (please jinxy gods do not jinx us!). Mr Trews is sorting out the meal, he's got a six hour cook-a-thon. First round of goodies just coming out the oven now as I type. Where does the day go though? We both did the horses this morning and still there's much to do. Cats are giving me the run around, not their fault but all had some of our pork joint that he cooked last night - it went down well, then came right back up. So cat sick all over the house. Great (not). They technically live out mostly and in the garage and utility room but Spy took himself off doing a house tour. You can guess the rest. I haven't dared look closely up here but I can't smell anything. Sorry if anyone is eating.
Going for a walk shortly with Zi around the fields. He's good company and doesn't complain or throw up like the cats.

OMG I JUST JINXED MYSELF AND OH.

We set off for a nice walk around the fields where Zi was. Zi seemed a bit giddy side out which is fine, he's allowed to be, but oh dear. First off, FELIX SHOWED UP. Not seen him for 6 months! So whilst saying hello to him Zi got jealous and kept coming over and trying to butt him with his nose. OH went and got cat food for Felix (cos I tried to pick him up and got half way up the road with him and he turned around and scratched my face I am now sore stinging and bleeding for my troubles  ) andbloody Monster showed up to make matters worse. So Felix did a runner I had to drop him as he was not happy. So then OH and me walked the length of the field to go and try and feed him. We gave him the food and he was starving for it and gobbled it up. Zi crept up on us and was becoming sillier and sillier. We decided to leave Felix as at this point he'd eaten two sachets.
Husky showed up and they seemed okay with one another which was good. But then Zi was getting really daft at this point and so we thought we'd go back up to the house.
Zi suddenly out of nowhere reared up bucked and I dipped under the fence at this point. OH was too far ahead in the distance but I screamed "watch out" and Zi missed OH's head with back hooves by a millimetre. I kid you not I am still in shock and just want to say never be complacent around them, even in the field when they are seemingly placid most of the time! OH is fine. He heard the hoof and the air around it brush past his ear by a whisker. But we are both deciding to call it a day for today and be super-wary around them. I think it's just the combo of cold weather and Zi being bored. He was treating OH and me like other horses and I guess playing in his own way. So tonight I'll be wearing my hat for picking feet out and being extra careful.

makes my day fine by comparison, heartbreaking, just awful. One of mine years ago broke his hock in the field, only had him a week, he and his mate must have had a set to. I remember the panic, waiting for the vet to come, just horrible. Please try to enjoy the rest of your day, horrible for you all
