Hi all

Just been looking at the below introductory course and was wondering if anyone has been on any of their courses and if they're worth it?

http://www.intelligenthorsemanship.co.uk/course-info/perfect-manners/

I'm only looking at the introductory course to help learn a bit more about horse psychology and manners. I'm struggling a bit with my confidence on the ground and would like to learn from a professional how to overcome it. I've looked at doing the BHS Stage 1, registered a couple of times for it but it was cancelled due to lack of numbers and eventually withdrawn. I found one course near me for £600 which seems an awful lot to me compared to the price of the one I registered on before (£200).

If anyone has any experience of this place, or can recommend any others I'd been keen to hear! I'm based in Surrey.

Not that course no. But I have done horsemanship clinics, workshops and had instructors out in that field of interest.
I guess my first thought is that price didn't include taking you horse, do you plan to take yours or use theirs?

Would an instructor come to you for a one to one for a similar price?

I had Garry Bosworth out to train Kira to load and he charges £30 An hour and trained with Monthy Roberts and Kelly Marks he was fantastic so patient.

Thanks both. @newforest I share so would need to use their own horses (although I think you can bring your own if you have one?).

@Native Lover I could look for someone similar in my area. The course does seem fascinating so I'd be keen to give it (or something similar) a go one day, whether that's now or in the future.

I used to live near where the residential weekends take place and I've volunteered/helped a couple of times. They always seemed to be great fun and a good learning experience for the participants.

Look who is your nearest person... I am not sure who is in your area.... Garry Actually lives in Lincoln which is very lucky for us....I am pleased with how he loaded Kira who is 8 now and had never been loaded since she was 6 months old..... he got her in in less than 3 hours :)

If you are struggling with something, you would be looking to do something now wouldn't you?

Yes the next date is at the end of September which is one of the main reasons it appeals. I'll have a mooch online and see if there's anyone in my area like Garry Bosworth - I'm not very well connected horse wise in the "real world" if I'm honest which is why I thought to ask on here.

I had parelli style ground work lessons (horse provided) at an RS near me Surrey area - with an excellent RI who solved my problem with my share and then gave lessons to my grand daughter. Not cheap but very good.
To be honest, if you have trouble with one particular horse, it may be better to have instruction with that horse. I was already quite skilled on the ground with her and with a lot of other livery horses. But my share almost knocked me over, barging across me to snatch cow parsley from the hedgerow and one lesson sorted that out.

Thanks, I'm going to look at getting someone in and then do the course at a later date as it looks really interesting. The issue is with me, I know that much, but getting some help and then upskilling will hopefully sort it out!
