When are you happy to worm? And I don't mean the worming schedule, I won't worm before I ride and really don't like to do it right before I'm leaving the yard, how long before you leave is long enough? I'm possibly slightly more OCD about this all since a nearly 5x overdosed Hank a couple of years ago! (I was sick and just wanted to get home, loaded Jess' dose of pramox and stuck it down his neck :eek:)
 
I like to be around to check them, so Mr T (who gets the lovely job:p) does them around lunch time normally, then everyone is up on the yard and I can monitor. It isn't something I'd ever have cause to do at night or when it's going dark really.

I've never had a problem so never really thought much about when I do. Mostly I tend to worm and then feed straight away. As l know chunky tended to have a little cough after giving it so sometimes he'd cough out some grass that was either in his throat or mouth which you would see covered in wormer. So i question whether he had the full dose. If I feed straight away and he coughs hopefully it comes back out in the feed bowl, then he eats it.

I worm them and then keep them on the yard for 24 hours so I tend to do it morning then feed them and then I am around for an hour and mucking out so can check them, then they go out next day

I never thought about it for years, as I said it was the ODing Hank incident that made me more aware.

I've also never had a problem with worming (apart from my own doing with Hank) so it probably shouldn't worry me, I am wary with them when using Pramox (which I have this time for tapes and encysted redworms) as you can get the dose wrong in mini's very easily and some folks have had issues giving it to metabolic horses.

no I've often done them at night when I have more time than in the morning,
 
If I absolutely have to worm then I do it in the morning, that way I can keep an eye on him & hopefully pick up if there's a problem. I know that sounds a bit paranoid but he's had bad reactions to several wormers in the past & I'd rather play safe.

I worm in the morning so if there is a reaction someone on the yard will hopefully spot it before the evening. I don't think that any of the horses have ever reacted to a wormer on our yard though.
