2020 Hacking & Riding Thread

Is Hogan a New Forest? I know they both have long manes but I think Hogan's beats Pete by some way :D

Bay ears are the best ?
No, Ramsey was. Hogan's Irish cob. He has bigger ears than Ramsey - Ramsey' s were teeny. Is Pete a forester then?

Yes, he's Forest bred and born! I think he came off the year I bought him, so he stayed out most of the time on the Forest until he was 5 :)

He's been across the border in Sussex with me for almost ten years and still gets so cross he doesn't have right of way on the roads, so he has to move over occassionally :D

Had another good ride but much earlier before it got hot..
Lol saying that in NOVEMBER IS WEIRD...

I can't ride with the bitless haltrt under the full cheek snaffle.
The cheek went thru the ring which wasn't good.
I ended up taking the bridle off and he was still very light with the bitless halter 20201109_100829.jpg20201109_101529.jpg

It was really nice out and the falling leaves were lovely and reminded me
Of CAVALIA .
I do hope the world settles down and they tour over here again.
I saw 2 versions and they were fabulous 20201109_101813.jpg20201109_101747.jpg

It's going to be another lovely day.
I was tempted to ride a second time yesterday but instead sat out letting him wander.

I hope I'm not imagining things but my knees seem to feel much better for riding.
I know my disposition is better. . .
After riding early yesterday I just felt overall so much more relaxed.
I need to keep this going just a nice relaxing ride no time limits.. of...ohh I have to ride this long...or accomplish that..

It hammered down all night, and I was tempted to turn off my alarm and not bother, but in the end, it wasn't a bad morning. It was a bit grey and misty to start, but the sun came out, and we ended up having a lovely ride. I'm still trying to vary our hacks as much as possible and really getting after him to trot more, but lordy, it's hard work! At least he's passive defiant now, and tries to ignore me when I push him, rather than having a tantrum. I think that's progress! Colours still lovely.Screenshot_20201110-114230_Gallery.jpg

It was a bit gusty then better so I just rode.
I used the stone wall out front to mount and rode the front yard.
Cavaketti are a bit overgrown and disheveled but if your in the woods step overs are not pristine and perfect.
I rode the tire.
It . was a fun ride.

Our first weekend of lockdown 2. I was hopeful of hacking out across the normally busy road which was deserted int he last lockdown. Sadly it was jut as busy as normal

Friday was a short hack on babysitting duty for YO and another livery who was only taking her horse out for the second time. On Saturday we had a nice hack in the sun on our own. Sunday was a bit rainy so we played in the school with the weekend groom. Harvey also had his first tapeworm test. for this the horse has to have not eaten, dank or exercised in the previous 30 minutes so Harvey had a wash to keep him occupied

Harvey "helping" to read the instructions

Good ride this morning. Hogan getting the hang of trotting properly again - he lost it for a few weeks, but something clicked today. Like you GaryB, it's not as quiet as last time, but they haven't closed the car parks. Started some uphill trotting - he was not a happy bunny! Sweating when we got home (him, not me) which is a novelty!

All you guys have had such great constant riding..
Its sad that roads were busy.
People are really blowing things off
Going everywhere and anywhere.
I did read something if you have an auto accident over there and your out illegally with no good reason your insurance wont cover you.

I think we're at least ok to ride - exercise(allowed), and animal welfare - (one look at Hogan they'll see it's definitely good for his welfare to keep moving!) I don't think I've been out for anything unnecessary far. ?
