Snap some pictures today

Woo hoo this made my day.
I was out back by the horses
Next thing turkeys are there 20201208_150213.jpg

But thats not the awesome part.
I tried to hurry up to beat them around to the side of the front yard where i have some obstacles to put some food for them.

I saw them standing looking at me when i came around the side .
I was worried when I threw the food they woukd run away

OHHHHH AWESOME THEY RAN TOWARDS ME...
AND WERE ALMOST UP TO ME.
I WAS SO THRILLED..
I had to back up to not not startle them getting my phone out if my pocket to get photos.

As crappy and icy and slippery and gloomy a day it was.

THAT JUST MADE MY DAY.
WOOOOOOO. HOOOOO..

Offical hay tester.
My husband picked up some nice big bales of second cut on the way home last nite.
They are huge no way could I shift them.

Sonny always gets to check out the hay going in.
We have to bring it in thru Andi's area so she gets her own taste test flake from the first bale in.
But its in her paddock since we have to lock her out to have all the gates open to bring in the hay.

He does the same thing filling the goats clubhouse hay area.
He will go to the edge of the fence holding bales to taste test...

MOMMY is not so nice...
When I get hay on my own even lighter bales are a bit of a struggle so its
NO WAY GUYS.. you get some to sample when I'M DONE.

I get the BUT DADDY GIVES US TASTES LOOK.

Took this the other day as i was walking up the field with the boys. Couldnt get close enough to get a good picture. He flew off the fence post and onto the next one along. At least hes making use of my temporary fencing.
No idea what it actually is, but big wing span.

We did a top up into the goats hay area last nite.
Danni.. senior goat.. kept a watchful eye..
YUM ..

The only thing I don't like about This yummy second cut is that the actual flakes are huge.
I prefer smaller flakes to not have to rip apart so spread around better.

Rain starting early today them more with possibility of a little snow Monday
Then ugh 10 INCHES OF SNOW Wed into
Thurs Ugh not looking foreward to that.20201211_172518.jpg20201211_172550.jpg20201211_173941.jpg

We've got some lovely hay, but like yours, the wedges are huge and really hard to split. I'm hoping when we start using the stuff we got at the end of summer, that it's more manageable - but still as nice.

I reproofed one of mine last weekend. The tack room still stinks. Waiting to redo the ones the boys are wearing. Once it pours with rain and they get soaked i shall whip them off and dunk them in a bucket of water to get the mud off first. Let them dry and reproof.

I actually quite like the smell of a freshly re-proofed rug. The re proofer smells like they do when they are new. I suppose you have to wash them first. I haven't done either for a while! I find only a rain sheet will fit in our washer. I bought one of those rug bags to put them inside. Oh and the fly sheets get washed too. Now and again.
