Evolving artwork

Feet are sooooo hard, especially when they're foreshortened
It was the ruddy wrinkles I struggled with more than anything, as we have to draw from life not photos, there is only me and Mr KR I can use as a model 😬 yes for shortening anything is difficult as your brain tells you different to your eyes, learning to ‘see’ is an art in itself I think, I’m currently drawing hands while listening to Mozart, hoping it inspires me!

The worse thing about this for me is all I can see when I look at it is my big brother looking at me 😱
You are bringing things to life! They all look so real (I know that probably sounds silly lol). You really are talented you know, I wouldn't know where to begin and even if I did, I doubt that I could do the things you have done. Specially not with black and white..............🤩

Last piece of coursework, portrait in any medium, I chose acrylics because I struggle with them and wanted to push myself. The hair is rubbish but I am quite pleased with it, meet Leah my eldest, no idea where the red hair came from, maybe a throwback from our Scottish roots.

Love the picture of Leah, her expression is great. When you are drawing portraits are you working from life?
All my pencil work is from Life, the portrait was from a reference photo. I prefer to try and work from life as it’s much more challenging (people don’t stay inanimate) but with Covid I’ve not had much choice and I’m bored of using Mr KR and myself as models.

I think pictures done from life are always so much better than photographs. More of the person comes through, if you know what I mean.
I agree with you totally, it also helps if you know the subject too, even though Leah was painted from a photo I loved painting her, just because I could ‘see’ her coming right out of the brush strokes and of course because I have so much love for her. One day if she’s ever not too busy I’d like to try and paint her from life.
