2021 Hacking and Riding

Got out for a long hack today. We opted to go over the horse crossing again. Billy was twitchy as we approached, i could also here engine noise coming from the field the other side of the road. As we get to the crossing i clock tractor other side of hedge in the field we are about to go right past up the bridleway. Going across crossing he was foward and a motor bike pulled up right in front of us but no large artics to contend with. So whipped out the treats as soon as we got across the road.
Turned up the bridleway and clock the tractor disking but heading away from us. Got through the gate and realise tractor is turning round and heading straight back towards us. Fortunately theres gap in the hedge going into another arable field so i quickly walk Billy through, got out some more treats and hide the other side of the hedge. He saw but never reacted so i came back through the gap and needed to go shut the gate. Tractor driver was turning round again, saw me and i signalled we were going up the bridleway but i needed to shut the gate, so he just pulled the tractor to a stop. Engine still running, Billy was great, although he looked at it as i shut the gate, because he was stationry Billy stayed chilled. So we then trotted up the track so the driver could carry on and follow up.

We went through the field which was up to the horses sides with growing oats a few weeks ago. So horses couldnt rwally canter. Today the field was empty as it had all been harvested. Managed to keep Billy under control for a few trots. Not a field to get too carried away in as it heads for a very busy 60mph main road. He had his sensible head on though. Went passed the old mill so had to contend with noisy running water but boys dont seem to mind. Billy use to be a bit oh err but now happy.

Billy doing the gate.

Back on granny duties, so haven't been out since Saturday, and having to go out later. Lovely day today and lovely ride - the forest looks beautiful, Hogan's energy levels up, and actually rather nice, meeting different people because we're out later. This below is my favourite track atm, the colours are not done justice by the pics.Screenshot_20210915-111322_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20210915-111328_Gallery.jpg

Very foggy this morning, especially at the field and in the forest. Hogan was good though - I'd intended riding round the little green, but it was very thick with fog, and the white cows were in there - somewhere! I didn't fancy one of them looming out the fog at us! The tracks were a bit clearer, and we enjoyed ourselves - no ride tomorrow - I intend to lie in until 7 - the fog horns woke me at 5 today 😩 Screenshot_20210916-101350_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20210916-134722_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20210916-134713_Gallery.jpg

I love the sound of the fog horns. (Not sure if I'd like being woke that early though lol) When we first moved here, the girls didn't have startle in their field the first time they heard it. They don't bother now of course.

That looks soo pretty..

Sorry the fog horns woke you...
I'd was up LONG before 5.

No play or anything here off and on storms all day.

Thankfully I got out and everything was just finished between 2.
I swear i dont know how you do it! I am so not a morning person. My husband is - standing joke in our family is how opposite we are. I can stay up til 1 am happily, he can get up at 5am happily. He used to go into the garden in the morning and do tai chi and meditation, I used to go to the other end with black coffee and a cigarette.(given up long since!) I have a raging temper, he's infuriatingly calm.🤷‍♀️

I don’t seem to be able to do either end of the day. It’s not quite 9pm and I’m having to make myself stay awake. Alarm goes at 7.45 and generally gets snoozed 3 or 4 times as I just can’t get out of bed. It is good having Robin tho as I HAVE to get up. It would be too easy to pay yo or field buddy to do it. For once I am getting to sleep quite easily tho. I can be shattered and sleepy then get to bed and it takes 90mins/2 hours to get to sleep. It dosnt matter when I go to bed tho it still takes that time to get to sleep. I have tried everything from 9pm to 2am.

Lol 9pm I rarely see 9pm..
Thank God for being able to record tv shows.
My husband is not a super late nite person.
But he is FAR from a morning person.
Even as a kid I was up REALLY early.

I REMEMBER 2 shows early saturday am
5am Agriculture USA
530am Modern Farmer.

Why as a little kid I loved those shows
I have no idea.

Then its a blank til 11am with Fury
1130 am Sky King
130pm My Friend Flicka.

I have never been a night person

I remember my friend flicka! Another one, probably never got to the U.S. was Follyfoot - I was SO jealous of the main character - her hair was a perfect feather cut AND she had horses.
I have quite bad insomnia, but after years on sleeping pills, that left me groggy, the Dr has prescribed amitriptyline which is much better.

I don't think Follyfoot ever came here.
There are a couple channels here with some really good old shows.
They have The Lone Ranger and
Roy Rogers.
I saw those as a kid too but don't remember when they were on.

Insomnia must be horrible to deal with.

Me either. I remember going to the Dr and begging for something to help (at that point I was falling asleep around 4am and getting up at 6.30) and He said "No one ever died of insomnia" and I fired back that I was this close to either killing someone else or myself if I couldn't get some sleep. It runs in my family - anyone else in your family, doodle? I started off with zopiclone, which is basically a knockout tablet - my daughter had hysterics once, when I apparently woke her up to show her that I could walk backwards. I have no memory of that at all. Just as well I came off those!
