Here's another one!

@Jane&Ziggy she's rather nice, and not a bad price at all ifshe's as described.

@Skib the seller not being on the breed website means nothing, it's ponies that are registered not owners.

I mentioned that my cousin bred Dales and is a source of knowledge of breeders and contacts in the Society. I will not post again on this topic.

The seller may not be the breeder, or even the owner (it could be a sales livery situation, or owned by a family member), I wouldn’t discount it because they’re not on the breeders list.

@Skib unless you intend to get your cousin to contact @Mary Poppins with contacts who are selling suitable ponies then I fail to see how this is in aany way relevant, and even if she or he did that doesn't mean she couldn't find a suitable registered pony that isn't being sold through the society or outside the knowledge of it's members.

@Mary Poppins this mare may be a bit young for you but she looks lovely. Sorry, tell me to stop if you want!

Thanks for thinking of me. I had come across this ad before but discounted it after finding some more info. I felt that she would be too green for me as she hasn’t been long backed and is only just starting her ridden education. I’m going to be a pile of nerves when I get on, so I need something that is established both hacking and in the school. She is so nearly right for me, but it seems quite a risk.

Thanks for thinking of me, so keep looking. One day something will make me book a viewing.

Several new horses on HorseQuest today @Mary Poppins . This mare caught my eye, very smart!

I pass over the Percheron mare, although I think she is a stunner, she is 17.3 and unbroken :p

But then there was this little chap, he looks sweet though maybe a bit unfinished for you

As always, just tell me to stop whenever you want!

That skewbold looks like strong to me. Something about her neck just doesn't look right.

I like the look of Topaz, he looks much more relaxed and and comfortable within his body. Maybe a little on the fat side but has a kind eye and I love his spotty bottom.

I like the look of the second one more, the first is a smart type but unless she's growing a hog out that neck would worry me and somehow she looks like a horse that would want to be doing. The second looks calmer, though it's a dealer I've heard mixed reviews about on a fb dodgy dealer page.

I will avoid as I do not want dodgy dealers in my life!

It's been mixed reviews, some people rave about her and say she's completely up front others feel they've had a bad experience - it depends on the buyer too, some are more honest than others about their experience, ability and what they want and that will affect the experience they have with a dealer. Have you joined any of the dodgy dealer groups on fb? It's worth doing because you see some names repeatedly coming up with bad reviews and also people who make out they're private sellers but actually aren't. When I was looking I saw a lovely looking D advertised as a private sale but the sellers name rang bells so I put a question up only to find that she was a dealer and the story of heartbreaking sale of loved family horse was rubbish - as the ex owner said she probably put the ad up driving him home and she was devastated by it as she was only selling due to a family loss meaning she couldn't afford him anymore and had sold him cheaply to what sounded like a perfect home. The new owner also said a perfect mother daughter hack who had never put a foot wrong in even the heaviest traffic - turns out he was a very nervous hack and not really safe in traffic. I felt for his old owner and the horse but I never even rang up about him.

I would go to look at Topaz myself, I did hesitate about the mare as she sounds busy. But I thought she was a looker. Topaz is just a cutie.

I'm not getting the vibe. I'm in no rush, I want to wait until I get that really excited feeling that this horse is just what I want. The thought of trudging all the way to Leicestershire also puts me off. I want the right horse to 'find me' as everyone tells me he will. Not quite sure how that happens mind.

I'm going to look at another potential new yard tomorrow so am looking forward to seeing how that goes. The one I looked at last week wasn't right for me.

With my sensible head on @Mary Poppins I would say go and look at some that are near enough to what you want. You need to get practice at quickly assessing a horse both on the ground and in the saddle, that's a skill that gets rusty when you've only ridden your own for so long - riding different ones at a school will help but it isn't quite the same since you know a school horse should be suitable for your ability. And as you know the right horse isn't just going to appear on your doorstep, but he could be out there in an ad that sounds ok or you could see him when you go to look at another horse. Get yourself out there sooner rather than later, it increases the chances of finding Mr Right and also makes you more likely to recognise him when you see him. And yes, I know it's hard looking at others when you still want the one you had back 🤗 🤗
