And we’re there...

Monkey was quite fractious this morning, he had a minor panic when Dan walked around the corner to see what I was doing in the barn, Monkey charged round, and back and was pretty unsettled, even food wasn’t distracting enough.

I decided I couldn’t face getting on, but I took him out in hand and we did a 3 mile loop. He was really good while we were out, relaxed nicely into walking.

When we got back he got wound up again while I tried to groom him, when I let him go he was stuck to me like glue so I walked around to Dan, but that wasn’t who he wanted, he ran around screaming for a few minutes 😢 but eventually settled to some hay next to Dan.

I’ve been keeping them all in the barn field, but I think I need to walk Monkey across to the other 2 fields so he knows she’s not there, I just can’t bring myself to yet.

Aw, it will be out of sorts for a while won't it. I feel for you I really do. Yes, when you're ready walk him across, but don't push things, you need time to heal and get through things. Sending a ton more vibes of kindness and strength. Here if you want some horsey support.xxxx

We had the saddler out on Wednesday, the saddle was last checked three and a half months ago, but it has been rocking a bit so flocking topped up and booked another appointment for January.

Then I was going to take him out on Thursday evening but there was a mobile tyre fitter working just down from my driveway, lots of hissing and bangs and I didn’t have it in me to see how he was going past that and it was getting dark so I just lunged him instead. He was good, but quite full of it so was probably the best decision.

Probably a wise decision, if your heart isn't quite in dealing with stuff like that right now. Better to just play safe and do something easy.

It’s funny how things affect you, in my head I wasn’t nervous to ride today but my body felt nervous/anxious, like all wobbly and churning tummy 🤷🏻‍♀️ thankfully Monkey didn’t feed off it and we had a nice hour and a bit wandering around the forest, by the end of which my body felt better, I’m just too in my head at the moment and riding definitely helps me get out of it, it’s my version of meditation!

I know that feeling well and whenever I was going through a life change / stressful situation it really affected my riding on Storm. Mainly at the old house and although she was my "forget my problems" solution, it still affected me and I had lots of butterflies. Glad Monkey didn't pick up on it. They can be so sensitive can't they. Glad you had a lovely forest wander. Just the ticket to healing xxx

L&L came over today and we had a very nice chilled ride in the forest, we timed it just right, it honked down about 15 minutes after they left!

I’ve rejigged the paddock access so Monkey has one side of the track up to the back paddock with plenty of grass in the day, while the little boys have the other side of the track around it, so they can be together but separate. Monkey is still charging the fence occasionally, I’m not really sure what that’s all about. Dan comes into his paddock in the sand paddock at night and Monkey has the rest of it and they eat at one end then snooze together at the other all night.

Glad you had a nice ride. Sounds like you are getting there with paddocks etc. It takes time to sort a new plan doesn't it.

works crazy at the moment but I managed to juggle my hours so I could get a ride in this morning. Monkey was very jittery going out, jumping at nothing repeatedly, but he settled after 20 minutes and we had a lovely peaceful ride. He looked my more relaxed this evening for it.

Yesterday was so windy I didn’t ride, and then this morning was raining, it dried up this afternoon but I was really battling for motivation, but out we went and I’m so glad I did. He was in a lovely relaxed mood, not what I expected!

Monkey has been very quiet the last few days, in a glum kind of way. I’ve been off my game after loosing Jess and sick for nearly 2 weeks, plus the clock change and crap with the landlord, I haven’t done much with him, not even ridden since last weekend. I’m going to try putting him with the little boys again after the fireworks settle down, hopefully that will perk him up, until then I’ll make a conscious effort to do a little something every day with him.

We went out this morning and he was perky once out 🥰 my neighbour had put her yearling in the paddock by the drove for the first time, much excitement on his part as we passed but Monkey did a great job of holding it together. He stopped a few times to stare but I don’t mind that!

The forest was pleasantly deserted, we didn’t see a soul 🤩 it was misty and chilly but lovely

Beautiful atmospheric scenery. Sorry you haven't been on the ball, hardly surprising with all that you have going on. I know how it feels when we lose one, Jess will have left a huge hole despite you being busy and having the others etc. Lots of vibes things come good with all your moving etc.
