On an island
Rode Storm Sat morning. No big deal right? Well, actually it was. We were in the school but farmer is having a lot of hedges trimmed and laid, so extra noise in that department (think dogs barking and chainsaws a go-go in the next field) and my neighbour (not the horrid one of course) came for a chat over the school gate. WEll, normally this would have all been too much for us, but OH was riding Joe and insisted upon staying on board (and promptly shamed me into not getting off:wub:) so we trotted over to where neighbour was and whilst she fidgeted slightly, she did stand nicely for 10 mins amidst the distractions! Hurrah for Storm!
Of course it was typical - I hadn't counted on all the distractions (one never does) and wasn't wearing my bp under my coat, so had the added fear of thinking if I came off it wouldn't be pleasant:frown: Anyhoo, it boosted my confidence as she didn't do anything bad and we both had a pleasant ride about afterwards. Just wanted to share. And add: sometimes I need somebody to egg me on - as OH did. Think if I'd been on my own I'd have wussed out and got off and taken her back to her box.

Well done Trews for sticking with it and well done to Storm for being such a good girl! Give her a big scratch behind the ears from me!

It only takes having somebody else to say "yes you can, go on" to make such a big difference; encouraging you on without being forceful. And look at you know, who'd have thought?!

Thanks Roxy, will give Storm a scratch from you!lol. How you and Roxy getting along? Hope you are both doing well, the winter is (nearly) over....(I am the eternal optimist!!!)

Absolutely, it's a lot lighter outside now - only just started getting dark, wohoo!!

Roxy is good although I think she's bored with winter. She seemed quite excited when I took her in the school on Saturday, like she was pleased she was eventually getting to engage her brain in something. I can't wait for the evenings to be light so I have some inclination to do something with her - and I can actually see her in daylight on a regular basis for a change!

Well done Trewers and well done Storm. Confidence is something that takes years to get and seconds to shatter! Well done for Mr Trewers for the encouragement:dance:

That's brilliant. I remember back to the times when I wasn;t sure of Joy. Our progrees was slower then because I was risk averse.

I don't take risks now but because I've had the odd challenge with her and come out the otherside my comfort zone has broadend dramatically, as has Joy's

I reckon this weekend sounds like one of those defining moments that will really help you along the way in future. Great thread

Way to go, Trewsers!
Very pleased for you - and good on Storm for being relatively chilled. I know how much small steps of progress count. Every little helps, as they say
