Since sorting the gateway I have noticed a visitor or two.

Any clues.
Could be one animal or two I guess.

I know we have a badger and fox, but this looks small so maybe the stoat? Rabbit.
Pretty sure it's not rat.

That's the single middle print, below is close up of the left print.

I can't really make them out clearly but the woodland trust has this

Looking forward to finding out what they are!

Difficult to make it out but my first reaction was deer, but I can’t really tell if there is pad marks in the bottom of the print. If that was here, and no pads I’d say muntjac because of the size, depends what you get in your area though.

My impression was deer as well but then noticed claw marks in some of the prints. I'm thinking that clay mud is obscuring the print to some degree.

It's rained so no prints.

I have flattened the area, so anything new that visits I will get photos of.
I have my ruler at the ready.

I guess we could get deer, I have seen some a mile further inland a few years back.

First one is badger (the small print that looks like a tiny hand - badgers have 5 toes but the fifth doesn't always show clearly) and the second is a melee of rabbits, single rabbit tracks, when they're hopping along, look different.

It's finally dried up enough for some prints.

Is it going to be the visiting cat?
For scale think less than an inch.

There shouldn't be any other prints besides mine, here's and wildlife.
I will flatten it all again and see if I get more.

I just reread and noticed what you said about size, good chance it is a cat , it’s difficult to see enough detail on the heel pad in the picture to be sure.

That does make sense.
I do have a ruler at the field now, so I will get them measured next time. 😁

I was tempted to buy a camera that could take photos of the spot. I am interested in what passes by.
