Ann Heighinghton of the Epona Trust in France is trying to find a home for 2 20 year old mares bonded pair, going for slaughter in 2 days time
She will fund them but they are full and can't take them in.

Anyone in Normandy area able to take them?

I hope they find a home. So sad isn't it.
almost as bad as the poor bloody australian horses at the Laidley Sales with the dogger's tie already round their necks, destined for a really brutally awful abattoir in QLD where there have been scandals about expensive racehorse ending up. Including one that won 400K in prize money. They are all decent horses, really nice. Heartbreaking such a waste

It is just horrible isn't it. All animals deserve a dignified end, but it somehow seems worse with horses when you know them so well as we do. The fact they are such trusting (most of the time anyway) creatures. And intelligent. And through no fault of their own end up in that situation. I sometimes tell mr trews we are in hell now. The next place will be better, people won't do the stuff they do here on earth in the next life. :(
