. . . I am keeping slight the sudden (mum suggested it!!) idea to go on one next year -

(EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEH!)

- ahem, with my best friend (and next door neighbour), Charlotte, when i will be 16 and she 15 - just us two: so anywhere where that would be possible would be great.

i've been looking in the 'classifieds' of Your Horse but would like anyone's experiences and opinions on anywhere (in the UK, not Ireland please) they have been to of have heard of from other people.

Thanks, it would be much appreciated, both good and bad feedback.

What sort of hol would you like to go on?
Do you want lessons, hacking or anything in particular?

I went here http://www.cornish-riding-holidays.co.uk/
It was quite a few years ago now, I think I was about 12 or 13yrs old but absolutely loved it!!
There was a real mixture of activities we had lessons with jumping, a mock hunt which was brilliant (galloping around trying to find a 'fox' which was someone else on a horse!!), competitions including sj or dressage, tack and turnout and gymkana. We also did XC and sidesaddle :) Think thats about it oh and lots of hacking including a day ride. We got a real mixture of everything and about 4 hours riding a day I think which was good. Lovely horses and ponies to choose from too :)
I'm not sure if it would appeal to older teens but I know I loved it when I went!!
PM if you want more info :)

Last week I was on an instructional riding holiday at Longfield Equestrial Centre http://www.longfieldequestriancentre.co.uk

They are based north of Manchester. I improved a lot in 5 days and actually learned to plait manes neatly:D using the very horse (I rode her as well) Ben Davies (Jonah from "Rough Diamond") learned to ride on. He went there to learn to ride before going to Ireland for filming.

The horses and instruction were great. They had safe ploddy types but there were quite a few slightly sharper horses as well. My favourites were Holly, Gemma and Pride.

I thought the price was reasonable too. That is assuming you are considering an instructional holiday.
