Can't upload photo's

It is probably me doing something idiotic, but it let me upload avatar photo but I can't upload photo's on any threads. A message comes up saying file too large, have asked OH and he has no idea!!!!

Your picture may be too large in file size. Try something like http://www.picresize.com/ to get a smaller version.
