cantering

Does anyone canter on the road I read somewhere it is less harmful thant trotting on the road. I admit to cantering on the road for short bursts of around 300 to 400 yards, honey appears to like it as I have to hold her back on the straight bits. Opinions please.

Not something I've ever done intentionally - I wouldn't be keen because of her damaged hocks. It may be acceptable for a normal healthy horse tho.

Generally I only go any faster than walk on the road if I'm turning off it or getting out of the way of a car etc. I tend to keep to grass for trotting and cantering. I have cantered on the road on purpose once that I remember and had a couple of strides of unintentional canter a couple of times!
