I know this should probably go in the confidence board but I wanted it in a closed section!
This morning peds and I did part of our local common ride I had been debating going all week and decided last night that I would make my mind up in the morning. Even when I was getting dressed this morning I was thinking 'i'm only getting ready incase I decide to go' But go we did
He was totally fab The ride starts at a green and local riders hack to there then visiting riders ride up together behind a pipe band from a uni down the road. Every horse on the green took off when the pipe and and other horses arrived! Noone fell off and no horses went further than a couple strides. Peds field buddy was broncing though but her young rider managed to stick on. Unfortunately all those horses was too much for Peds and he spent the whole time on the green bunny hopping, spinning and backing up. He eventually reared up vertical when another horse spooked and ran into him. I somehow managed to stay on! And when he came back to.earth there was a call of "well sat!" I think he was as shocked as I was that he had done that as he kept the correct amount of feet on the ground after that!
He finally settled when we all set off and was a total star. Not bothered at all by the horses all around him and mostly walked with only a small amount of jogging. He got stressy every time we stopped (for the ensign to address the boundaries) but just being fidgety and dancing.
All in all I enjoyed it and feel I coped well with everything he threw at me and stayed calm! (I've never sat a proper rear like that before!)
A wee pic from the green..
