So Faran has given himself an ouchie, quite a good one for his first proper ouchie.

We think he has been rearing up near the fence between fields at the new welsh c in the adjoining field. I’ve seen him doing this but not too close. The evidence suggests that he has probably gone over the fence with his front end and left the back end in his field then thrashed to get himself off the fence. Thank goodness it’s just plain wire and was fairly flexible as he’s broken Two fence posts in the process.

Friends got him in for me as they had sorted him in the wrong field. They called me as soon as they saw him then discovered the blood then the fence. I was having breakfast at the time to I just abakndoned it and headed over.

Got there and have him the once over. Just his legs and some rubs on his belly but no wounds. So cleaned them up, flamazine applies and gave him Bute. Then kept him in to observe him and the wounds to see how they got on. Dinner time comes around and I check him and the legs are hot and swollen and he’s lifting one and looking at it. Called the vet. So choking down my horror at a Sunday emergency call out fee we waited in the vet.

Vet came out, asked how he did it. Told her the above, So we sedated him as he’s never had his legs clipped, thoroughly cleaned the wounds and inspected the deeper slices. They are just bad grazes with the shallow slices so flamazine for three days then Manuka honey and wash them with hibi scrub every other day.

AntiBs and Bute in feeds and gave him a big jab in the butt with penicillin. Vet was happy with what I did before calling so no issues there.

After a thorough cleaning and inspection of the slightly deeper slices along the joint.

So the pallets were put up to stop legs going through the fence, however he has untied one and swung it round, that’s been his game today I think, honestly can’t leave him Alone with anything knotted! He loves figuring them out lol

Ouchie! They look awful, but thankfully sound superficial. Get well soon, Faran!

He’s actually ok. Bored as he can’t go in the field and annoy his uncle Arion but he’s eating and drinking and moving fine so hopefully just letting the legs heal with hopefully no issue x

Ooowww! Poor silly boy. Everybody's nightmare, glad it seems superficial, now just the nightmare of keeping it clean. Hope he recovers quickly.

Ouch, why are youngsters such nightmares? Hope it heals quickly for both your sakes and no scarring, although he hasn't picked a bad spot right on the join between chestnut and white if he does end up with some white hairs from the trauma. Little monkey, but adorable with it.

They look better already, and very little swelling. Looks like you're doing a good job, hopefully a youngster's rapid and thorough healing will mean he's back to normal soon - and hopefully a bit wiser too.

I think the hard stand turnout is helping with the swelling as he is moving about but can’t get up any proper speed to pull at the wounds :)

Need to get him a football or something to play with as he’s destroying it!!!

Treat balls are good, though if he's anything like Little Un it could take him a long time to figure out. First he tried getting him tongue in the hole, then stamping on it & then he was running it around so fast that if any nuts did fall out he didn't notice. It took watching another horse with one to get the idea, though even now if they don't come out straight away it gets pushed too fast to be effective. That pony has no patience!
