So Faran has given himself an ouchie, quite a good one for his first proper ouchie.
We think he has been rearing up near the fence between fields at the new welsh c in the adjoining field. I’ve seen him doing this but not too close. The evidence suggests that he has probably gone over the fence with his front end and left the back end in his field then thrashed to get himself off the fence. Thank goodness it’s just plain wire and was fairly flexible as he’s broken Two fence posts in the process.
Friends got him in for me as they had sorted him in the wrong field. They called me as soon as they saw him then discovered the blood then the fence. I was having breakfast at the time to I just abakndoned it and headed over.
Got there and have him the once over. Just his legs and some rubs on his belly but no wounds. So cleaned them up, flamazine applies and gave him Bute. Then kept him in to observe him and the wounds to see how they got on. Dinner time comes around and I check him and the legs are hot and swollen and he’s lifting one and looking at it. Called the vet. So choking down my horror at a Sunday emergency call out fee we waited in the vet.
Vet came out, asked how he did it. Told her the above, So we sedated him as he’s never had his legs clipped, thoroughly cleaned the wounds and inspected the deeper slices. They are just bad grazes with the shallow slices so flamazine for three days then Manuka honey and wash them with hibi scrub every other day.
AntiBs and Bute in feeds and gave him a big jab in the butt with penicillin. Vet was happy with what I did before calling so no issues there.
