Does insurance pay for a blown engine?

A friend of mine, Martin has an Audi A4 car from 2015, one day he used his car for a long drive while returning home his car started emitting a lot of smoke from the engine, he stopped his car and went to a mechanic. The mechanic noticed that his engine was blown, apparently, he failed to change his engine oil for the past 8 months and had left it in his garage.

I would love to have some suggestions for this situation? what could one possibly do? don't know much but I did know that agencies cover up to some level.

if it was involved in a car accident, maybe it could get covered, but that depends on what type of insurance you have. nevertheless it is best to take a car check to know for sure, you could also try parkers, those work real great for comparisons

Insurance doesn't cover things like that, it's wear and tear not accident damage. All he can do now is get some quotes for getting it repaired, and they'll probably be high if it's major damage. He'll also need to pay to get it transported to somewhere the work can be done, again not cheap, so it'll be worth getting a quote off the guy whose garage it's currently at (who'll probably be charging him storage).

For future reference companies like the AA and RAC offer breakdown assistance. For something like this they won't be able to repair the car but they will get it and you home. An expensive lesson learned - keep a regular check on things like oil levels, tyre pressure, water levels etc and have a car regularly serviced.

depends how bad it is, if it's just the cylinder head gasket it may be worth repairing as it's a newish car and probably quite expensive. Get a value on it and see what a refurbished engine costs

It actually depends on the insurance coverage. This is because each insurance covers different incidents... depending on how much you paid for it. Did you try asking your advisor or check your policy? It is usually written there if it is covered or not. Hope this helps! God bless!

The timing chain went on our Scorpio and wrecked the engine. We managed to get the manufacturer of the car to fix it as changing or checking the timing chain was not part of a required service and therefore how could we have prevented it. Otherwise it would have been down to us. Took a lot of arguing but leaving it without checking oil etc is just your own negligence.
