Don’t put things off!

I know better, but I’ve been putting off chopping back the big willow at the bottom of the field, I knew it was getting to long and leafy, making it heavy and today it came down and took out a fence letting Hank into my only paddock with grass on it

Then it rained torrentially for the first time in months for the entire hour that I was chopping it up and fixing the fence

Got treated to a pretty rainbow after though

My Willow has collapsed this year. We gave it another very hard cut back about 5 years ago. Then just let it resprout. It's 50 years old and the huge trunk has multi split over the years but somehow it survives and keeps resprouting when it gets a very harsh trim. The cows have loved stripping the bark off the branches. I need to attack the branches that are resting on rhe electric fence too.

So do the ponies, I dragged most of the leafy branches I chopped to the other end of the field so everyone got some, there was nothing left by morning!

It had to rain while you needed to chop out didn't it. But usually the rainbow is worth it.

I was chopping the tree some more this morning, with the help of the little boys, Hank had zero concept that walking under my saw while I was working might not be a great idea!

And once I’d chopped the big bits the little boys worked diligently on stripping the leaves off them for me

he's bigger than Newt. Much bigger. My-Newt (see what I did there, geddit?) is a full-up 27".
