Electric fence or not???

Daft question maybe....If you had youngsters coming to a new home with a new owner, would an electic fence startle a young horse who has never seen or felt one before! Fields surrounded by hedges but one area needs electric fence! A bit of a worry wart

Accepting a new home & owner is one thing but the tape going to be a shocker too! Tell me not to be soo soft!

Probably yes, but in any case, it's the "horse's fault" in that he put his nose where he shouldn't have.
When I had finished the electric fencing around my field, Zsaïm put his nose on the fence and took a shock. He came straight back for the second one and has never had the slightest issue since.

Just make sure that your energizer works correctly during introduction period and the youngster should lean to keep away from the fence.
