finding a trainer

does anybody know where i could find a trainer for myself and the pony i decide to buy

i would like a personal trainer to help me improve my riding skills and ability and also to help me in shows etc

You could probably find a freelance instructor in the phone book
Or a internet directory of equine stuff in your area.

A lot of the freelance instructors round here advertise on the boards at the tack shops. Where will you be keeping your pony? You can ask the other people at the yard who they have lessons with and who they recommend.

How is your pony search coming along? You've been looking for ages, haven't you?

Look on www.bhs.org.uk for a list of freelance instructors in your area. You will normally pay £20 - £25 for an hour's lesson with a BHSAI on your own horse with the instructor that comes to your yard.

Which area are you in? It's always worth asking around the area and maybe going to see them teach.

Nicola Luke in Wakefield (she may be able to travel to North Yorks) is very good for flatwork/dressage and showjumping. She also has an equine simulator which she does lessons on too.
