Anyone heard of this product (love the name :)); has been mentionned on the EE Forums with good reviews, can any NR folk comment?

http://www.furminator.com/

Am seriously considering buying this for my hairy mare, but - being the cynic that I am - is it as good/effective as the advert suggests? Don't want to spend £30 or so on something thats going to hibernate at the bottom of my tackbox, if good ol' fashionned elbow grease and shedding comb do just as good a job!

i got one for my grandmas dog for a tenner at a show will find out what its called for you. :)

it works well on him (the dog) he has a thick double coat and used to mault constantly, now hes hardly shedding at all.

shedding blades are fab and cheap as chips :D

or a hoover? :p

hey, ditto what xloopylozzax said, i picked one up for a tenner. not sure what it is though:rolleyes: it is very similar to that though, one side is for the under coat and had longer and wider spaced teeth. the other half is basically the same as those. i swear by them. mine is amazing, perfect for the shetlands!! (and it really does come off the younger 2 with thicker coats like in the vids) :D

its one with two blades, and it flicks over if it snags? ^^

yes, found it, yay.
its a " Love2Pet: Large Brush " though they all seem more expensive on the internet (though thinking about it i think it was a special offer because it was at a show) also it says for cats and dogs but the person selling it has horses and she said she used it on hers ( with picture proof )

the horses love it,they tend to nod of when we use it, lol , we use it all year round, but more so in spring.

Ooh I want a furminator! Saw them in a mag the other day - Cassie moults like crazy come spring, but the others take a lot longer, the hair just won't come out, so i'd love to try this on all of them...

I'm a dog groomer and swear by my furminator. I've been trying to remember to bring it home all week to set about Arnie. If its half as good on him as it is on dogs it will make life so easy:D

another thing- metal curry combs

not the work of the devil, if the ponys coat is thick enough and you just run it over the coat (not digging in, no elbow grease needed) it works brill

That looks so good! I'd love one for my dog!

Funny the advert pic, when it scrolls to the cat! All that hair!

Yeah, can just imagine getting hold of one of my cats to manage THAT!:rolleyes:

Looks like a fab gizmo though!

It seems only the Brits have this big No-no about using metal curry combs on horse's coats.

Al the European lasses who worked for us get stuck into a hairy, muddy pony with a metal curry comb.

I used one of those Mars shedding combs on the Shetlands one year, won't do it again...

When I first moved to the UK I loaned a little ISH mare. Got out my grooming kit & tucked in. Owner came flying across the yard in a tizzle DON'T TOUCH MY HORSE WITH THAT THING! She then proceeded to tell me how sensitive her mare was and how she HATED being touched with metal brushes .... Errrrrr, is that why her eyes were closed and her lower lip wobbling in delight, then? Very strange attitude I thought!
