After a difficult winter, things are finally looking more positive. First the broken arm, then the Oscar-Bronc-Fest (still the only properly naughty thing he has done in 6 months which isn't bad going) and both girls being dragged in separate falls and their confidence was in tatters. Oscar was not the easiest pony to get it back on either as he is an enormously enthusiastic pony and he needs confident riders.

But they have worked so hard and been so patient, endless months of walk-trot work and ground work to build a relationship and gain a more secure seat. Then we got Lisa who is such a confidence giver. And we joined a pony club which has been ace for them. At their first rally Twin 2 was in tears and Twin 1 got off complaining of tummy ache within 15 minutes! Oh dear. People must have thought I'm some kind of horrible driven mum insisting they ride when they hate it! But they are as keen as ever under the nerves. And since then they have started to trust themselves more and suddenly it all seems to be falling into place.

A week ago they did another rally and both jumped courses. This week they have started cantering in their lessons. And they have hacked out off the lead rein. And today they both jumped at the Easter SJ at Beaver Hall. Best of all, Oscar was very Oscar-ish during the course and was like 'Yeehaa JUMPING!'. Instead of freezing, then crying, then falling/getting off,Twin 2 RODE HIM. I could hear her chatting away to him: "Oscar we are trotting, stop being silly" and he came back to trot and jumped the rest of the round beautifully. Lisa also jumped well. She is so steady and sensible and does everything asked of her. Someone offered to buy her! Said she was just the type of pony they have been looking for and if we are selling please let them know. Nope, sorry!

And they got a first a second and a fifth for their days work across 3 classes: X-Poles (Oscar), 45 and 55cm (Lisa). Won an Easter Egg too with the 1st place. Nom nom.

PICS! (Of course) 20160325_110028.jpg 20160323_170632.jpg 20160325_110034.jpg Screenshot_2016-03-25-16-05-43.png 20160325_115444_011(2).jpg 20160325_114416.jpg

Such a lovely thread to read. I really do like the look of Lisa, especially now that you have stripped back her tack. So nice to see happy children enjoying their ponies.

Lovely pics, they look so happy!! Is lovely that everything's coming together. They will come on leaps and bounds in pony club and have so much fun whilst they learn. Rallies are great too, there will be no stopping them. :) x
