Oh poor pup - he's really going through it. Really hope the vet can get him better.

He's a lot better, eating ok, more energy. He goes in next month to have scans and xrays.

Kimme has had her stem cell harvesting last week and goes for implants in a month's time. She is much better in herself, she came out of the harvesting very well, and she looks younger in the face, she is out of pain and her face is more relaxed, I think she was pretty sore and was masking it. When she had the stem cell harvesting, we were due to go collect her and got a call an hour earlier to say that Kimme wanted to come home and could we come and get her......she is a tough cookie.

Sadly he had his xrays and scans yesterday and it isn't great news. Hip displacia both sides, left worse than right, ball only sitting in socket 35% instead of at least 50% and is not round. Pain in spine, one disc at pelvic area poor. Shoulders are good. Tendons in back legs are tight, don't stretch properly. He couldn't even stretch them fully under sedation. He walks with a wiggle which suggests he is trying to counter act the pain in his hips. so he is on pain relief, muscle relaxant, will go for therapy and then stemcells. His very strong muscles in his hinds due to walking and hills are the only thing that has kept the ball well supported and why he has managed to mask it so long. So not great news, only good thing is that the arthritis he has is minimal. His mum's hips are better in construction i.e. the ball sits into the socket better, but she has more arthritis and she had pain in her shoulders from having to put more stress on them as her hinds weren't working. If he doesn't have treatment then he would probably go the same way.

That's a real shame, sorry to hear it. So is it going to be pain relief long term? Or is there something they can do surgically?

once he has the stemcell treatment to fill in the cartilage and also laser and hydro therapy to build up his core strength hopefully he will be off pain relief, he is on metacalm only while Kim is on that and 3 times a day quite strong pain relief. ie. my mum used to take it.
