I'm thinking of splurging on the Heather Moffat Stirrups as they seem to have a good review overall.

But I am also aware that Icelandic riders use similar stirrups and wonder where you get these from and whether there are any differences etc.

Any views good/bad/indifferent appreciated!:D

The Ástund stirrups don't have a rubber grip, but theya re just as good, I have never lost them.

www.astund.is they do a very quick mail order service, I ordered mine and they were with me in 2 days!

Haven't tried the Icelandic but have got, ahem, two pairs of the HM and love them to little pieces :) I find it really difficult to ride in 'normal' stirrups now. If they weren't available I'd definitely look at the Icelandic ones though :)

Looking at the stirrups on the Icelandic site the main difference between those and HM stirrups is that the HM (as well as hanging the "right way") have an extra wide tread (about double a regular stirrup) and they really help relieve ankle pain, as well as (hopefully!!) making it harder for you to lose them.

I love my HM stirrups....
