heather's video

I did look at the page you suggested (thanks for the prompt reply !) and called the toll free 800 #. The videos won't be available in the US until the end of June and the price wasn't yet available either. Apparently the company that produced the video will be distributing them in the U.S. And they're getting LOTS of requests!

Thanks again.

I've bought the video myself, and I can really recommend it, particularly for the bits about flexing the lower back. It's much easier to see exactly what is meant than in the book, so now we know what we're looking for me and my friend who rides with me give each other basic feedback on how we're doing. When I'm doing it right I really notice the difference in my back; I've had slight, but painful, back trouble before, and now when it starts hurting I just know I'm sitting wrong, and that there's something I can do about it.

If Heather reads this, or if anyone else has any info, please could you tell me when the next video is likely to come out? Thanks

Rebecca

HI Rebecca,

The next one is supposed to be out in time for the Equine Event in November. The biggest trouble is, fitting in the time to do the edit. It takes sooooo long! I shall never watch a television programme in the same light again!

Glad to hear that the first one is helping. The second will not be easy to film, (we have some film in the can for it already)as the second half will be showing the aids and their application. As we try to teach riders to ride with invisible aids, I think that some computer graphics willbe needed!

Heather - loved the first video (and that clip early on of the riders bumping round an indoor school was horribly familiar), and good to have news of the next one...but PLEASE don't get too exhausted!!

Turns

Just wanted to say, after reading your tips on turning Heather, as in circles, I tried the moving inside hip to indicate turn, and it worked perfectly. (Read again in Your Horse I think, or Horse Mag .. not sure which one .. At first I thought it was a fluke, then tried again on the other rein, and success ... I was so excited, I must have made my horse dizzy doing circles all over the school! This horse will only take the lightest of contacts and I've had a bit of a problem getting used to this, as she has a very soft mouth, but she listened, and I must have got the contact right, because I used the above method today also, with great success! A small improvement, but for me, a great leap forward, and I did much more with her today, and I think we now have a better understanding of each other, and I'm starting jump lessons again on Friday ... yippee!

Glad it helps, Anne! It was Your Horse mag, and three weeks ago I did an impromptu lecture/demo at the YH reader day at Warwicks College on a school horse that I have never sat on before ( I was here for the day lecturing with the Equisimulator, but people were requesting me to do a mounted demo too). I was able to prove how this works, by riding the horse with reins on the buckle, hands resting on the pommel, as I turned him this way and that, and finally, a circle in his own length. I have done this dozens of times at lecture demos, always to the amazement of teh audience! But there is really nothing very amazing about it! IT is just the horses' natural response to the shift in the weight, and the beauty of it is, it works with all horses.

NTSC???? Video

What is an NTSC version of Heather's video??? I would like to have a copy, but do not know whether I should look around for it now, or wait. Can anyone help? I LOVED her book, and imagine the video will be great, too!

NTSC is the television format used in the USA and Canada (and many other places). Most of Europe uses PAL which is the format the video has initially been released in. The NTSC version should be out any time now.
