Took a bit of a break with far too much to do and not enough ££
A bit of an update on the clan:
Peri:
Some of you may remember that last August after losing Peri's filly foal and her foster foal she then almost severed her superficial flexor tendon. She was put in a Robert Jones and after a week she was so depressed I was contemplating PTS. Then on August bank holiday when I took it off to re-apply it for the first time she almost fell over and had horrible pressure sores. Cue an emergency transfer to horspital and a week at the vets on high dose antibiotics. Prognosis at this point was paddock sound - she owes me nothing and I was content with that. Once the sores were healed she went to live at a friend's stud for her box rest (nice big stable and lots of human company). Peri's little habits seem to have aided her recovery as she loves to lie down and she spent a good chunk of the next 4 months in bed.
Fast forward to mid- March 2012 and back to the vets. Walked down the yard and vet sort of went bit wide-eyed and told me to walk her away and back again then told vet nurse to run her up in trot. Turned to me and said she's either very slightly unlevel in both forelegs or completely sound and I favour the later Scan shows tendon has healed better than expected (still well-bowed) and the scarring from the pressure sores has actually provided support. He then said take her home, hand walk for 2 - 3 weeks then ride her in walk for 4 - 6 weeks building up the time then start trotting. No guarantee she will stay sound but worth trying. We are nearly up to 6 weeks walking, soon to trot. Hacking out for 45 minutes and so far no reaction. Looking at light hacking only, but at 23yo I am content with that and she is so at being ridden again.
Tavia:
Mare graded her with SHB-GB in September and she achieved a Head mare book mark
Been on maternity leave since and produced a cracking colt foal last Friday (11th May) at day 333. He was provisionally sold in utero, the lady has been to visit and has confirmed she wants him. Name (so far) is Burnside Lucky Vandal - my prefix but she chose Vandal. He's destined for eventing.
Belle:
After a few fits and starts due to her casting herself twice (!) despite additional precautions after the first incident, and a fall in the field she is now cracking on under saddle. Scored 68% in her first test (only an Intro) and that was with a fairly 'mean' judge as she would have won by 11% if we had been competing (I was HC). Her first big girl party was a pleasing outcome as it was a very busy spooky venue. Forgot how to keep the canter in the Prelim test but then found the forward button for the Novice and finished 4th.
She is working happily at elementary level with bits of medium already and that is without even pushing her. Canter is phenomenal and she just doesn't seem to know what'on the forehand' means. Plan is a few more unaffiliated parties over the summer and then to affiliate once she is ready to compete elementary.
Fly:
Now a 2yo, he has made a complete recovery from his nail penetration despite an initially dire prognosis. With losing Grace he is now being retained as he is effectively Peri's last foal. Currently running him on as a stallion candidate as he has done really well in his gradings so far and is proving to have a very good temperament. Copes well stabled next to the mares (although naturally can't get to them) and is easy to handle. I hand walked him with no sedation when he was still on box rest, pretty impressive for a yearling colt.
Loads of pics to keep you satisified (except none of me on Belle as I'm the photographer!)

Bit of a mixed bag - first time back on Peri. Fly doing some prep work for his 2yo Futurity with a trip out to a local EC to use their indoor school. First time in my friend's box and was an angel. Also a rather preggy looking Tavia.
