Hi just to make folks aware of horse thefts in the area. Last week two horses at our yard, near Esh Winning - were stolen.

Due to the diligence and bravery of another yard mate, who followed their tracks for two miles over dreadful terrain in the snow, they were found, tied up, in a field. Who knows what for? Perhaps to be taken to sales, or just abandoned (but why tie them up???)

There is a similar tale from a yard in Consett.

So please be onb your guard all horsey folk in Co Durham and surrounding areas.

Many thanks, pmr

I feel a bit comforted by the fact that there is only one access to our yard, and its right past the YO's house. Plus you'd be eaten by the dogs.

What horses were taken?

Ditto my yard - I went down this morning at 5, crept down the lane as quiet as possible, didn't even make it half way down before I was mugged by the dogs - and bitten! Bloody terriers! Good job I had thick boots on! They made enough noise to wake the dead. The dreaded white van was spotted at my old yard aswell. Old YO never had locks on gates either, I worried quite a bit!
