Horse wincing when grooming flank

hi , have just noticed today that while I was grooming him he was wincing and raising his leg when I was brushing his flank area. He doesn't seem to have any bother walking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jamie. Probably not the same thing at all but a friend's horse has just had exactly this issue and following vet visit it turns out he has an peritoneal infection. Not sure how or why and the only treatment he is having at the moment is danilon. If it doesn't get better he will have to have more investigation, but the vet said he's seen a lot of horses with the same thing recently and usually it just goes as quickly and mysteriously as it came.

Some horses who have stomach ulcers, can be arsey being groomed.
